Anyone know were AQ is gonna fly their scheduled -700 deliveries? With DCA shot down, any rumours on other mainland expansion? Hiring?

Freight Dog just shared with us this morning some additional flying OAK-HNL and OAK-LIH starting in July.

Riveting aint it?

The good news I saw was that it appears we'll be getting more airplanes next year...according to the system bid. How many flights you think we can get into OAK in a day? Yawn....

I'm heading over to OGG from OAK on AQ May 24th for a week of R&R with the family. Might even subject myself to a bit of humility and stop by Island Air with an updated resume for the pool.

You know, it's not necessarily a bad idea adding capacity between OAK and here. What I am a little leery about it is that according to the company bulletin, OAK-LIH is only gonna be seasonal and I wonder why? UAL and AA are flying that route year-round and they're always packed, although they're doing LIH - SFO and LIH - LAX.

If it were my call, I'd add more service at SNA, and I'd also do redeyes to all of our west coast cities in addition to the current service.

I think if they continue with consolidating bases vs. new destinations... they'll probably have to add a mainland base pretty soon.

Who knows? We'll find out the next move when we read it in the Advertiser.

If any of you AQ types think you might be flying out of OAK that day I'd be honored to buy you a ...... uh, on second thought how about just exchanging stories.
Not funny.

Perhaps av8tortype's post was inappropriate, but Hugh's Bang, Bang has me rolling...

Really, that is the best internet laugh I've had in a long time.

Anyone know when those 700's are going to be on property? Have they hired pilots already to staff them or are they waiting to figure out where the 700's are going to fly? What did the system bid look like for next year?

We've been hiring constantly... so far, we've had a class a month this year. Heard we're not gonna have a new hire class in June, but another class in July. Don't know if they interviewed for those yet...

We got the two planes meant for DCA going to OAK, one from LIH and a late afternoon HNL-OAK.

The last issue of the Flier says no more 700 deliveries scheduled until July 2005 but also said that could change.

Yep, I guess one more Samoa starting in July.

Heard from a check airman yesterday that he was told 3 classes of 8. July, August, and Sept. Not sure what we are hiring for...something big could be in the works, but I doubt it.....

Yeah I have no idea what were going to do with all these pilots. We are heavy on FO's these days. Well thats better than the opposite.
