Does anyone know if and when they might be announcing their new bases and when they'll start hiring for them?

I believe they've already started hiring for them. 2 classes in Aug, 1 Sept, 1 Oct, 1 Nov, and 1 in Dec per the training department. I don't think anyone knows yet which class of new-hires will begin to start filling the new bases.

The Laughlin Schedules are awesome for FOs. They average 18-21 days off a month, but you rarely go over guarantee and they are alot longer days then the scheduled side. It is fun flying with heavy crews and double crews flying all over the country. Its like you are given the keys to an MD80 and you get to go fly around, no managment, no Feds, etc. It was the most fun flying I have ever had. You are back in base everynight and if you wanted to live in Laughlin it would be ideal. It is good for commuters because you usually see 4-5 on followed by 7 off. The biggest drawback (and why it goes junior) is the 90 minute drive from Vegas, and with the high gas prices its costing guys a few hundy a month in gas. If you are junior assigned Laughlin out of class, you could get to the base of your choice whenever another class goes through.

I was based in laughlin for a bit and thought it was pretty cool. Got to go all over the country. The atmosphere on those flights is a lot different from the regular 121 stuff. Last year when we were about to announce, and finally announced PIE, it seemed like they would never officially announce it. It might be like that this year with base announcements.

Unfortunately I kinda need to know today. I have to put a deposit on a house today and we were trying to wait so we could move to Vegas instead if the call came through. I'm in a pinch since I've waited almost 2 weeks and have passed up houses in the process.

If you need to know, CALL THEM. The worst they can say is no. Good luck!

Yeah, they said they'd decide on the 9th and notify afterward. I've called twice and keep getting voice mail. Thanks.
