All ATPs

I am considering going to all atp flight school (www.allatps.com) for their complete cfi program (mei, cfii, cfi). Looking for any people who have went there, pros/cons and what they think about it. thanks.

Atp Cfi

I did the complete CFI program with ATP about a month ago.
Lets just say it was like drinking water through a firehose.
It was a lot of information and I spent about three weeks before studying the materials they sent.

The first week is a serious grind. I was up at 5AM, flying by
6AM, in ground school by 8:30 done by 4pm. Then maybe an afternoon
flight depending on how much practice you need or which program you buy.
Then you go home do homework and read your PTS and go over
multi-engine maneuvers. One of my checkrides was at 5AM!!

My advice is bite the bullet, spend the money.... immerse yourself and learn, and get it done. Some people spend years doing their CFI's. ATP has a good reputation, a structured program, and I think its worth it.

i had looked at that program too... be careful, the $4995 can easily turn into $8000 before you know it... (e.g. extra grand if you don't have 15 multi PIC + 300-400 per checkride - read extra grand + travel expenses for 14 days - read extra grand). I don't doubt they'll get you all your ratings quickly, but I decided that program was too pricey for me.

I went to All Atp's and had a different experience than described above. First, it was a lot of studying, but I was up at 7:30 not 5. Our ground school was pretty laid back and informative. Everyone in my class did well. I flew after class and in the second week ,not at the crack of dawn and I didnt have a checkride earlier than 10. i have also subsequently sent some of my own students down there as well without complaints. As far as the comment about it being pricey, I dont know where you can get your cfi/ii/mei cheaper. Just your initial can cost more than that at other places. I also didn't go over list price by a penny. I know it sounds like I have a stake in the company or something but really I just wish someone would have told me this before because I would have done the full program in retrospect. Did you do yours in JAX with Walt at 5AM?
I did my CFI with ATP and thought it was great. We were at the school at 7-ish the first week and had a laid back ground school and I learned a lot. I had a great instructor, Walt. He made it as interesting as it could be. I didn't have any flights at 5AM. I would recommend it, especially with Walt.

I did the full program at JAX with Walt. The groundschool was well organized, it is the firehouse method but if you've been studying you'll be fine. I was the only one in my group (class?) that wasn't in the carreer program, but I had a lot of multi time when I got there so it wasn't a problem, I wouldn't reccomend going there without at least a little recent twin time, if you can't find a place with seminoles a duchess will do fine. I did the Total CFI program about a month ago. Finished on budget but had to wait a few more days to do my CFI-SE ride (the last one) because of bad weather here. I did mine in JAX and had Walt as my ground school instructor. He was very knowledgeable about the regulations and PTS as he helped to write some of them. Best deal you will find on getting all 3 of your instructor tickets.

Msk2468, I've been thinking of going to JAX for the career pilot program. I'll have my pvt-inst. Question is, do they promise what they preach? Did you stay in housing? Is there anything that I should anticipate, other than ck ride fees and the firehose treatment, that may come up while I'm there? Any other info. would be appreciated. thanks.

here is the deal, I went in exactly where you are at right now (private/instrument). So what i did was actually call them and they tailored a program specifically for me. In fact, I worked with them to trim the fat. For example, I believe they allot 8 hours for the multi-private, but they actually gave me five hours. So then I got my multi-private and then flew about 30 hours in the twin (pic) to meet the commercial requirement of 250 and to gain some twin time. It also obviously gave me the 15 hours for cfi program. Meanwhile I prepared for the commercial multi and flew a bit in the right seat. They also gave me free sim time to log towards my 250. So I took my commercial multi then went right into the cfi class and they actually tacked the commercial single in there right before my cfi single for convenience. The long and short is, I was there for about four weeks total and took care of all of the above. I also dont think it could have been any cheaper. As far as stuff to look out for....nothing really. This is not delta connection academy, so if you are able to hold up your end, your bill will not increase. Just study before you go down there and when you are enrolled don't panic just stick with the program b/c it has worked for many people before you...it works. Oh yeah, they put me in the housing to for i think 100$ a week, it was nice complex. if you have any questions pm me. good luck
