I recently got my CommSEL from a small 141 school. It's a great school, but I'm being forced to move to Sacramento,CA and I won't be able to do my CFI/II & ME training here at my current school. I'm considering ALL ATPs for my ME ratings and my CFI training. They seem like a good school with a lot to offer. I haven't had the opportunity to visit them yet. I've found some good info here on this board, but I have some additional questions:

If I do only my ME and CFI training with them, will I have a good shot at getting a job instructing with them?

Does anyone have any experience with their Sacramento location? I've been told that it's their largest operation on the West Coast; is that true?

I understand their training style is very intensive, which is fine with me, but how tough is it? What kind of success do their students have on their checkrides?

Do their insructors often live in the same housing provided for the students or do they find their own housing?

What's the instructor pay? Hours? Any inordinate BS that comes with instructing there? Quality of students?

Thanks very much for your help.

hey. i don't really have any real info on atps. but i have heard that they give preference (who doesn't?) to people who do their training with them. can't be too bad. multi time is a b1tch to get. i wish i had gone there a year ago. if you're really interested, stop by and talk to one of the instructors. check it out. even if it does suck...it's multi, right? good luck.

If you go to ALL ATPS you will get your ratings. I did it. I thought the program was sadly lacking in many ways, but I got the ratings, and even recommended friends to go there and get their ratings, which they did. It is a rushed environment where you learn just what you need to know, but you will get your rating.

Hope that helps. As far as living, the Instructors may or may not live with students, in Jacksonville where I was there were quite a few instructors living with the Students, but I don't know about any other bases.

Good luck.

Howdy!
At Sac Exec is a little flight school known as CFI, Inc. They have a charter department now, well, since I last visited in 1997. I was quite impressed with the quality of their training and their aircraft. Their part 135 Bonanza was at my local airport a few weeks ago and it is maintained above 135 minimums. Give them a look, for training, and as ALLATPs doesn't rent aircraft to non-students, a place to rent.
