ALERT! Jumpseat off limits in Brasilia

Today the FAA changed the FAR that governs flight deck doors to read that the Brasilia door must be closed/barred under any aircraft movement. This now prohibits anyone from utilizing the flight deck jumpseat in the Brasilia. The ramifications for commuting pilots are huge. This new rule does include FAA inspectors. They will now sit in the front row with a headset plugged in for check rides.

Embraer is working on a door to enclose the jumpseat. Last I heard it was due out in April.

Just curious, Are you supposed to pee in a bottle since the door must remain closed during aircraft movement?

What happens in a coed cockpit?

How can that be when other 121 aircraft don't even have a door, Metro's/ 1900's? Are they grounded since they can't secure the cockpits? just sounds fishy. Are they going to make the curtain's out of steel?

Later.
