Alaska & America West Int JS

Yes it's summer and I'm trying to sneek away from reserve for a whopping three days and don't particulary care to pay the $140 they want for a standby interline ticket. Anyone know if these two carriers accept Jumpseaters to Mexico?? I know AA is a go....and I believe CO still doesn't do Intl JS....those are all that go into PVR right now. AS and AW have the most flights. If so is it just one? Thanks in advance, Happy Summer AD

I know Alaska does to Cabo...

Be very careful attempting to jumpseat internationally. In some countries you can't access the gate area without a ticket. The other thing and most importantly is that many of the carriers are often filled to capacity and many of their own pilots are trying to write passes to get home and may end up in the jumpseat thus leaving you in that country for another day...

I hate to be picky. But, the name is Alaska. Not Alaskan as indicated in the subject title.

Enough of that...if you are on our list, and there is seat in the back, you can go. Make sure you have a current passport and any other travel documents you may need. There will be some fees for taxes and airways fees when you return. You pay those at the ticket counter when you check in for the jumpseat.

Have fun!

Avrodriver;

America West does allow Jumpseat to PVR ; 2 flights per day if I remember correctly. To j/s show up at counter 1 hr prior with ID, pilot certificates AND PASSPORT. To check loads www. AWA Today.com ;open travel tab and click on "check PBT's". Call reservations to check actual pax total. Hope this helps!

I know the feeling!!!! I went to Cabo to go fishing 2 weeks ago, and, yes, landed and released an estimated 150 lb pacific striped marlin!!

What a trip, marlin and a whole bunch of schoolie yellowfin tuna.

I took Continental, in uniform, from ATL thru Houston to Los CAbos (SJD), and they were fantastic!!!! NO charges whatsoever, the crew was great- MANY THANKS TO THE FOLKS OVER AT CONTINENTAL!!!!

Unfortunately on the way home I was unable to get on Continental since they were oversold.

The day got worse because the Captain of the other flight, which was heading to PHX said NO. No explanation, nothing. Just no. I was in uniform, and being just as polite as a schoolboy. The gate agents were from the other airline were wonderful, all very professional, but the flight left with a bunch of empty seats, but no jumpseater. Oh well. I bought a walk up fare ticket and got home.

Moral of the story, buy a pass if going international, or be darn sure the company will take you. I could have gone thru our Pass bureau and got a roundtrip pass for $50.00. It ended up costing me quite a bit more then that because somebody had issues.

Hi!

AWA is like NWA. U can JS on them overseas, but U have to be on their list, and they have different lists for national vs. overseas, for example, we can fly NWA in the US and Canada, but not anywhere else. If U want to fly them overseas, make sure you're on their list.
