Is something going on at Alaska right now? I heard an indirect rumor about a 100% program of following the contract and to be as safe as possible. Ofcourse this is how we all fly any way, but any truth to this?

Not from the MEC. We haven't even started the game yet, it would seems foolish at this point to shoot and then aim.

Company does it that way (think Menzies); why not you?

We never should have stopped shooting in the first place. The "game" will not begin until we force it. I am going to go out on a limb and guess you are ANC based.

I don't know mach but from his/her other posts, I can almost guarantee that he/she is not ANC based. Does not seem like the kool-aid drinking type that mostly hang in ANC.
Let the games begin, is mach ANC based?
I say wait till may 07. lets help Alaska make money so that we have a leg to stand on when we ask for our deserved pay back! If the company starts dragging its feet in negotiations or not negotiating in good faith, then the 100% program will be in full swing and then some!

I think you are right here.

However, personally I see no reason to give the company the benefit of the doubt. They are not going to negotiate in good faith until they are made to. I have drawn this conclusion based on past and recent actions. Ofcourse along with BF's recent contract violations. I say we through out their timeline.

I highly doubt that the company will negotiate in good faith; just look at their actions since last May and even before then. Many of us have been practicing squeezing the golden goose's neck on and off. Practice makes perfect. I definitely won't kill it but I'll beat the $hit out of it until it puts out. Hopefully it won't come to that but look who started the war! I'm so sick of hearing the phrase, "it's just business".
Yeah, I know.... talk is cheap. We'll see how the rest of the pilot group does when the time rolls around.

The "it's just business" line bugs the crap out of me too. I have flown with several people who have said that. They, however, can't seem to grasp that what we have to do in return is just business as well. In light of recent and not so recent events, anyone who believes that there is a chance that they will negotiate in good faith are living in a dream world. They will negotiate when we make them, and not one minute before.

You are probably right in the fact that the company probably will not negotiate in good faith but the pilot group is not unified enough at this time to send a strong message. If the company repeats their previous negotiating tactics, you'll see a "unified" pissed off pilot group.

No, I am not ANC based (not that there is anything wrong with that). I am SEA based and do committee work with the MEC.

The problem with the MEC saying lets "slow down" is it could be construed as a job action without being released into self help or a sympathy strike for another labor group. Big deal? Fines could be levied and jail time could be thrown in as well. The RLA is fairly confining in these terms. The other thing about slowing down now is we haven't even kicked the ball off. We are still in warm ups for the game and there are four quarters to play.

Don't forget the pig roast today.

When the time comes to getting down to "just business" it will involve little more than drinking coffee. As someone with many years of MEC work recently pointed out, to understand how this company works just listen to 130.87 between 6 and 8 AM. It's nothing more than pilots putting out fires for the company's organizational short comings. Catering? Sure I'll give them a call for you (again). A crew scheduling issue for a flight attendant? Here, use my cell phone to call them, I insist... and on, and on, and on.

Or... a nice warm latte from Starbucks.

Mmmm. Latte.

From what I've experience thus far, especially during this summer, this airline will fall apart if we just did our jobs (100%) per the FOM. From the pathetic ops agents to the gang banger Menzies boys, they need to catch a clue but I'm almost certain that they never will. You really do get what you pay for. My motivation to "enable" this company is wearing very thin.

Magnificently worded. Excellent, I'm still laughing
