Does anyone know if Alaska Airlines requires a pre-employment company medical examination. Or is there a requirement only a First-Class medical.
Thanks Tatoosh

No "company" medical. Just a First Class medical, plus you will have to go for the usual DOT drug screen and an additional company required nicotine screen.

Hey what's a nicotine screen? Hadn't heard of this? Will you still be hired if you smoke?

It's a screen that many of the local clubs have over the ventilation system to catch any and all tar and nicotine to be rolled into little balls and used again.

Gotcha! I always wondered about that.

Is it kinda like in college when we'd scrape the bowl for another hit after a night of partying.

Disclaimer: The freaks are laughing... the geeks are scratchin' their furry little heads...LOL!

If you use nicotine, Alaska will not hire you. There is a pre-employment drug screening at a local medical clinic soon after your interview, or a week or so before your class date.

Yes, both Alaska and Horizon will not hire applicants if they smoke. The reason is (please tell me if this is inaccurate) a Delta pilot was fired for being a smoker, sued the company, and then DAL won in court proving that a smoker costs more to the company in medical insurance coverage and productivity.

I think Alaska followed their lead or somethin'.

So how senior is SEA? seems like the info from the last couple of classes showed SEA being senior.

That's true, if you smoke you are not good enough for Alaska...However, if you have the capacity to steal 90 million dollars from your pilots "you're Hired"... F- those A-holes.
