I was just talking to an Alaska pilot and he said they're looking at furloughing. Any one heard anything concrete? Horizon I heard was looking at possible furloughs of up to 200 pilots. This is the first I've heard of Alaska Furloughs.

I hope not either, three of the friends I have over there are on the bottom.

Horizon prolly, but why Alaska?

We have 737-400s yes, but those are better than the -500s and -300s that CAL is parking.

The freighter/combis are making more money, so they won't drop the -400s . . .

(Okay, big bucks, no whammies!)

Once they get the MD guys trained, there could be up to 100 furloughs due to overstaffing.

In recurrent now and this was discussed. No plans as of now, but they have to see how many are going to retire and not make the swap to the 37. Hurry up and wait. Everone we talked to including Union guessed that it would not happen.

Fingers crossed!!

Baja.

I certainly hope Banana/Baja are right. Just looked at the last SEC 8k. With no fleet changes looming, we appear to be staffed correctly.

Any furlough rumor is probably just a negotiating scare tactic.

Glad to here it sounds like just a rumor. Maybe you guys can take advantage of all the idiot majors shrinking and expand a little. Typical airline ceo "We're losing money, furlough the pilots. What? The stock price went up? Wahooo. Raises all around for me and the rest of upper management." Or better yet "Yes, our plan is to shrink to profitability"
