Hello all,

Like many I am anxiously awaiting Alaska's new application system and for them to start hiring again (although I realize next spring/summer is most realistic for the latter). I am currently an E120 captain and just rolled over the turbine PIC requirement (all the other ones are met). I've had my app in since the UPAS days (@3 years), I have a Silver Bullet/Sponsor pilot (whatever they're calling it now) and know a handful of guys there who have also offered LOR's. I was planning on just hanging in the Bro for another year or so, but lately I've heard that just t-prop PIC won't be enough, and I need JET PIC to be competitive (it's always something else, right?). I could probably get into the RJ in a few months, but it would mean commuting to reserve indefinitely (Dante's 4th circle of hell, if I recall) and so I'm in no hurry.
So I was just wondering if the AK guys on this board who are in the know might have any insight. I know that making predictions in the airline business is only slightly better than betting on the ponies, but thought I would try. Thanks for any help you can give.

turbine or jet?

I interviewed in January of '03. There were 3 of us in my interview group and I was the only guy with jet time. One guy was flying ATR's for American Eagle and the other guy was flying for a small cargo outfit in Anchorage. In other groups I spoke with during the 2 day interview, I'd say the percentages were pretty similar. Of the guys that were hired, I'd say it was a pretty fair split. Most of the guys with jet time were military and most of the turbine guys were commuter types. Neither one seemed to be disproportionately represented. Hope that helps.

Hey all,

I heard the new on-line app was supposed to be up today, but couldn't find anything on Alaska's website. Anyone got any insight?

Thanks,
D

There is a place to submit your resume online via a paste and post function. We are not hiring yet, so that might have something to do.

Later,
