Is it likely that Alaska will still have a bid in Jan with a bunch of newhires, like previously predicted? Or is it likely that they will wait to see if the age 65 crap passes? It seemed like most all the newhires were just to account for attrition not growth.

You hit the nail on the head with that one. They continue to promise growth, but the hiring numbers (including the supposed Jan bid) do not add up to growth in the way we care about anyway. Never believe anything the company tells you until it actually happens, because most of what they say is bs. Some say oh they have to hire. Well they were saying that over and over from 03 - 05 and they got by without it. Though I admit at some point they obviously will have to hire a bunch more. But they may be the ones that would put it off to see if the bill passes. They are certainly used to operating very thin on crews.

Nice avatar.

Anyone know if Heidi Adam is still the person we should address on a resume cover letter? I don't want to sped $119 to renew my Air, Inc. membership just to get the name from their airline directory. Thanks.

I interviewed there last month and it was Bonita Latozke and Celeste Green who were the HR people. I think Celeste Green might be the better of the two to shoot for, but I'm not 100% sure.

Our contract defines retirement at 60. If the age 65 does pass, the company will have to amend our contract. That could be interesting. I think that the numbers that they have published (350 newhires by the end of 08), are not going to be enough. When you look at the reitrements and the new aircraft, 350 monkeys just aren't enough.

best of luck to you,

and I would try Celeste.

Sure it is enough monkeys. It just doesn't account for any growth. I won't believe any of the new ac are for growth until I actually see it. It is amazing how the number of new ac match up so well with the number of MD's and 400's currently on property.

Is the interview at Alaska still the same as it has been for the last several years or have they changed the format? Do they still have the sim ride as part of the process? Just curious.

Thanks in advance,

As far as I could tell it is the same process that they have always done but the sim ride is on a case by case basis. They told me that they base it on who recomended you and your experience. I was lucky and did not do the sim. Got hired and start the 12th of Dec. Very straight forward interview. Good luck.
