Word on the street is "whatever it takes" to keep the 190's away from Horizon.

Word on the street is that AS is ramping up hiring to include more internal candidates from QX. Some kind of announcement coming soon according to the QX chief pilot. Sounds like more hiring than is necessary to staff the current book fleet plan.

So I would say your word on the street is at least plausible. I just hope AS's B-scale is better than QX's pay, but I sort of doubt it will be.

Too bad.

I don’t know if you saw our last bid but I think it showed us hiring 58 next year and we are retiring 79… maybe they are ramping up to keep up with attrition. I doubt the 190 is coming to Alaska or Horizon… I think it’s a ploy to get Horizon to sign a contract with a 12% pay cut and another distraction for our negotiating committee. Alaska can’t grow until the transition is done and probably not until a new contract is signed.

Haven't heard a word of 190's in the training center in the last two months. As for ramping up hiring....I was told by a scheduler 300 in a year but I think she miss-spoke and meant to say 12 a month, not 25. Whatever as hoover says...what will happen will happen.

Baja.

The AAG is not going to get E-190's, it is just a distraction for the contract neg. at each airline. If any bigger airplanes are going to come it will be in the form of a CRJ 900 going to Horizon IMO. Horizon already fly the 700 so the training will be in the form of a "blue bulletin" on how to operate the 900. It would be the cheapest and easiest way for the AAG to get into the 70+ seat flying. The E-190 would be a great addition, but looking back at past practice at the AAG, they will take the cheapest route.

A "B" scale refers to a different payscale for the same equipment.

Check out the big brain on TWA Dude!

Did it ever occur to you that Alaska ALPA might have to do a lot better than simply reducing 190 rates to JB levels or worse before it would be economically advantageous for the AAG to operate these things at Alaska rather than at Horizon?

If indeed the 190's are in play, we know that current ALPA doctrine is focused on getting these airframes on mainline properties at all costs and "working on the rates later." If repairing the damage done by the Kasher award is a top priority for the pilots currently employed there, what else is there but a B scale to use for economic leverage?

What else is there? That's like a poor person claiming he robbed the bank because he had no other choice. The wrong choice is wrong no matter what the motivation. If instituting a B scale is the only option then the battle is already lost.

After Kasher we are ALL on B-scale. I made more year two than now year six. I haven't heard about 190's and doubt they are coming too either airline. The Capt. last week was getting a line check and the instructor was saying they are re-writting their propsal for Jan. because they think we are mad. I don't know what gave that away but I'll believe it when I see it.

This fact has never given the AAG pause.

Nor ALPA for that matter. A "B" scale would be a fitting end to the story of ALPA's colossal mishandling of the alter ego problem.

I think the chance of the 190 is slim to none but I do know that if someone is going to lower the bar it will not be Horizon. That being said I highly doubt Alaska would either. What we really need are more spare 400's. :)
