Just heard a rumor that an Airtran pilot ran into the CEO in ATL yesterday and was told that there will definitely be a January class. This is of course after the two Jan. classes were cancelled. Said Two 717 were being delivered in Feb.
Someone told me the reason for the cancellations was because they didn't want to have classes going while they were moving from the old building to the new. This is just what I over heard, there is no fact to this statement.
Sunking,
No major offense here, but those in the training dept are not sure if a class in Jan will happen. I realy doubt that Joe L. would really know or care. he's got much more to do. BUT if it is true thats great and then I owe you a, sorry dude.
From the VP of HR, we will be hiring hiring 150-200 pilots next year.
I think the problems with scheduling the class(es) revolves around getting the Hawaiian aircraft on the line. Apparently, the aircraft needed morethan just paint to get 'em on line. They needed to add 2 more lavs to each plane, and some heavy mx items had to be taken care of before we get 'em.
The good news is that there may be some new 717's coming on the market- perhaps we will pick some of those up, too.
