That isn't real time. Someone still has to see that you want to go from A to B and then put it in the computer. Essentially all you are doing is sending an email request.

Working in ATL ops for FL, I can say that gate assignments are done the night before between 11pm-4am. We have an overnighter who plans the gates and talks with routing in MCO about upcoming tail swaps, mx issues etc....

Like every airline, things are always changing but Concourse C is a good bet. We have 7 gates on D and 22 on C at the present time. Although we share D1, D3, D5 and now D9 since Independence has left. The good news is that they are adding 3 more gates on the south end of D so we should be able to pick some more up in the near future.
