No one wants to drive all the way to Austin, to a third-rate airport, when we can get out of San Antonio.

This is great news for my commute.

Darn, that AirTran copies everything that ASA does  Uncle Joe throws a 717 on every route with an RJ on it.

DGS better get the RJ's off the gate faster, hate to get stuck in trail spacing all the way back to ATL. They fly fast since they don't pay for gas.

The real frustrating thing is my wife will now buy AirTran tickets when she can't non-rev. :smash:

Uncle Joe is now retired and will be leaving the board in May 2008. AirTran is scheduled to receive 10 737s in 2008. It doesn't matter who already flys in those markets. This is not about Southwest or Jetblue. AirTran is just adding another city to it's network that customers that choose AirTran would like to go to. Nothing personal, just a business move to enhance AirTran's network. Our new CEO wants to fly to Canada and introduce more carribean routes in the next two years. With 60 firm 737 orders to come at this point, there are plenty more markets for AirTran to provide their customers.

AirTran is a small airline, but it is nice to see growth. It means more upgrades, and more new hires. In 2007 AirTran introduced 7 new cities and so far in 2008 AirTran has introduced 3 (San Juan, Burlington, and San Antonio).
