According to their investors' presentation, AirTran wants to keep all Midwest's regional flying. Finally a merger that doesn't hurt the regional drivers (at least not in the short term).

AirTran's Merger Presentation
any thing can change. that doesnt mean that the current pilots for skyway will be flying. before you know it midwest pilots will be flying their 717s as the regional.

Yeah, talk is cheap. If the merger happens, if they keep us, if, if, if. Time will tell.

BTW- Excellent photoshop on the E170, phish. I thought the next progression would have been Dash-8's. Could we see that in a Q400?

Skyway

Yeah, they can promise anything they want during talks, but once the keys are in their hands, all bets are off unless there was something stipulated in the merger.
I don't mean this as a knock on AirTran- frankly, I'm interested in hearing what the CEO has to say and I am also taking a neutral stance on this merger proposal. I think that we have to take it with a grain of salt, though.
Oh well, let's just enjoy the show!

We'll have to see what happens, it may get interesting.

Don't believe anything the boys in MCO say.

AirTran tried the regional deal with AWAC a few years ago and got rid of us. Which would lead me to believe that they don't want Do-jets, or B-1900's flying for them either.

I'm with the person above---they will probably use B-717's as "regionals."

Why would Airtran waste their time with anthing other that a CL-65?,

The point is.... the CL-65 wasn't profitable for them. Why would they fly a 1900 or a Do-328 with a whopping 32 seats. I'm not gonna waste my time arguing which regional aircraft they would fly if they were flying regional aircraft. Just stating a fact about their "thoughts" on regional jet service. Its about as cost effective for them to operate a B-717 on legs that they were operating the CL-65.

None of these mergers is going to happen.... None! The reason you saw United/Cont announce and then AirTran/MW and AA/NW is to kill the USAir/Delta deal.... it signals to the DOJ that if one merger happens then they all will.

Wow! thanks for telling us that NONE of the mergers are going to happen. i can now rest at night. can you tell me how long it takes to upgrade. since you are all knowing i thought i would ask.

None of the merger deals makes sense.... That does not mean they will not happen. There are a lot of managers, attorneys and deal makers who could get rich on stock & debt swaps which result in increased debt and decreased performance from the companies they are responsible for.

As has happened in the past, a deal makes sense for 10 people and ends up screwing several thousand loyal employees.

very well put.... there are some scumbag lawyers out there ready to get rich if they can. There is a link on another thread about a class action lawsuit that is to be put in place if there are any shareholders that want to sue.
