I know a lot of you Airtran guys are not happy with parts of your TA.

However...
If/when this or a different TA passes it looks as though the $25 2nd js/non-rev charge will be gone (please correct me if this is not accurate).

On behalf of all off line jumpseaters, thank you for spending the negoiating capital to get rid of this. You guys have taken a lot of crap about this over the years and you should be commended now for making it right.

Again, thanks for the all the rides!

Yes, thanks again for using your negotiating chips for this item that really doesn't affect you guy/gals. All though I have never been charged ,even when I was number 4 to the gate. I have seen some agents charge a few guys. I asked why them and not me? she said " cause he is always too arrogant" and besides he said that 25 bucks was cheap for him to get to work. She even suggested that he try NWA across the hall that leaves 10 minutes later but he paid instead.

remember be nice to those who control the strings

I'd also like to say thanks for working for that. I rarely ever think I speak for many, much less most on anything, but I doubt there is one pilot out there who would like to see the 25 dollar charge go away at the expense of other big ticket items in your contract like scope or that rediculous pushback pay proposal management wants. Hopefuly the charge will be gone eventually either way though (best of both worlds).

It's gone no matter what.

We're going to vote this T.A. down. When we negotiate the new one, we'll make sure that's in there.

Might take a little longer, but it's bogus and needs to go away.

Thanks to everyone that's been patient with this. We appreciate the ride!

Personally I never had this be a problem but I commend everyone that is or was part of getting rid of this. I think this is a step in the right direction( albeit a minor one) whereas management will think twice about going forward with this.

Can't wait for the swinging czech pilot to come on and explain to everyone the difference between jumpseat and pass. Apparently, if you're the second jumpseater, you're allowed the privilege of purchasing a pass in the back, and you'd better not complain about it or you won't get on his airplane. The fact that Airtran pilots don't have to pay for this privilege anywhere else is not important to him.

Cudos for getting rid of it.

I rarely jumpseat and first time on AirTran tomorrow (potentially), how often do they charge the extra $25?

Airtran doesn't have an unlimited jumpseat policy like every other airline. If the jumpseats are allocated to someone already, technically, the gate agent is supposed to charge $25 for a pass. Some do, most don't. It depends on their workload and your attitude. Good luck and welcome.

Had a CAL Captain who was charged about a year ago out of Newark. He was a second jump-seater and I always ask if there is more then one if they got charged. I went up to the gate to talk to the gate agent. However, she said that when CAL pilot asked for jump-seat, the Station Manager was standing at the podium with her and there wasn't much she could do without putting her job in jeopardy. That was the only time someone got charged on my flight.
Hey, we tried.

I'm an AirTraner, and it does effect us. And unless we get rid of it, there is huge potential for our Pilots(65%commuters) to have to pay or be refused because of it.

The original TA only had a side letter stating the policy was to change. Nothing changed in the contract language that prevented Mgt. from returning to the charge if they so desired. So, ANY TA without protected JS language will garner NO votes from a majority.

DAL,ASA,Comair,Freedom Guys thanks for the Rides. I'll get you a refund if you ever have to pay on my plane.
