Earlier this year I helped a friend who got an interview with AirTran, but she was subsequently turned down by them. Does anyone know if that will affect her chances with Southwest.

Is she automatically out of the running at SWA because of the AirTran rejection?

i have a good friend who was shot down twice by airtran and got hired by southwest on the first try, but that was 3 years ago.

Shouldn't affect your friend I highly doubt the people depts. will be sharing records in such a way.

Besides the last 7 years AirTran has had a higher standard for interview and hiring selection. SWA required a 737 type which can costs upwards of 10k just for the interview/job. Finding people willing to pay this expense just for the shot at an interview really degraded the level of talent they viewed.

Max,

You may be right but that's a big part of why we dropped the type before interview several years back - like 10. Heck you're even gonna get hired without one! ;)

I throw the hand grenade in......and all I get is a a polite response like that from the infamous "guppy". I must be losing my touch. Perhaps things won't get too crazy with this whole SLI thing after all.

I once asked a Tranny for hand relief, but he turned me down. Been with SWA for 3 years now.

I got turned down by MIDEX and got hired at AirTran shortly thereafter. Worked out pretty well.

Did your "friend" get turned down at AirTran before or after you did this ?:

"AirTran Recruiter Meeting
I have arranged a meeting (or phone meeting) with Stephanie Grantham who hires pilots at AirTran. I am helping out a friend who has a kid who wants to work for them. Any AirTran pilot on this board who might PM me."
