Just a couple quick questions about Airtran.
1. Current upgrade time?
The last award had some guys who were right at 24 months, but the award was rescinded due to delivery delays from Boeing. Probably 2 years, for the next class of newhires, but it could be quite a bit less, like 18 months when the 737's start showing up.
2. First and second year pay
First year- I would guess right around $40K for pay plus $5K per diem. Second year looks like $57K plus the per diem. Third year FO pay should be $65, but 3rd year Capt pay now is around $110K. . . . . . . . 13% more for the B737-800's, but we are likely to see mostly -700's at first, which are the smae pay as the 717.
3. How long on reserve?
Depends on how many are hired after you. Some sit no reserve, while others sit 6 months. It all depends how long it takes to get 10% behind you (currently, you would need about 45 pilots behind you to get off reserve, I would guess).
4. Commutable trips?
Not enough info to answer. Most trips are 3 or four days on, three or four days off. Some are late start/early finish, if that is what you mean, but more are either late start/late finish, or early start/ early finish, so you might have to commute in the night before, or get home the next morning. So far, I have managed to commute, never had a crash pad, averaged 2-4 hotels nights in ATL per month for the first year, and 0-2 a month in the second year. Figure 13-15 days off per month the first year, and 16 -17 in the second year.
5. New hires into the 717 or 737 when it comes online?
I don't think anyone knows for sure.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
