Hey Everyone,

I have worked on the ramp at AirTran for 3 years at BWI. I have also been a full-time flight instructor bulding hours. I was recently hired with transtates to fly the 145, however, while talking to some mx guys they said that one of their guys was hired as a pilot with no turbine time, and he only had 2 years with the company. Just wondering if anyone knows if thats true? Do you guys think I should go to TransStates and quit or should I try to talk to the chief pilot and see if I have any chance? I know im only probably dreaming but I thought it was worth a shot. I am in very good standing with the company and would obviously much rather stay with AirTran. My friend (also a ramper) was hired on as a mechanic right after getting his A&P with absolutely no other mx experience, so i know airtran likes to hire within but i also know its much different with pilots. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First, call your chief pilot, tell him what you want. If you never tell them what you what, they will never know. Second, if you can, go to the AirInc jobfair in Atlanta on May 20, stand in the Airtran line with your Airtran ID and your letters of rec from Airtran pilots and talk to the recuiters. Find out who is going to represent Airtran on the 20th and maybe email to let them know to expect you. If you really want the job, make the effort. That's what i would do. I don't work for Airtran. Or go to the home offices tomorrow with your resume and letters of rec and an appointment to see the HR people. Go get what you want-it will not come to you. Good luck.

Yes - true. Call the DO, KG. Tell him your experience, work history and have Dave and maybe the new guy from BOS to write a letter of rec for you. There are fromer FA's, rampers, an engineer, and a station mgr that I can think of off the top of my head that are now pilots. I would check it out before I moved on.
