Not to sound flippant, but join the club. There are hundreds of pilots who are in the exact same boat. I personally am trying to get two pilots hired. Both are exceptionally well qualified....one is typed in the 727, 737 and 757, with significant 121 PIC time. The other does not have the heavy jet time, but is also well qualified, with jet time, 121 time, and turbine PIC time. One has attended several of the Air Inc seminars, and was told flat out "we'll interview you", but it hasn't happened, at least not yet. Every pilot at AirTran has at least several of their buddies that they are recommending and trying to get hired. The list of recommended pilots seems endless.

To make matters worse, at least for the short term, all new hire classes (and even upgrade classes after the one currently running) have been put on hold until after the first of the year due to Boeing not being able to meet the delivery schedule of the 4 options we exercised for the remainder of this year. So, I don't expect interviewing to resume for at least a month, and then only to start compiling a "pool" for when classes do resume next year.

Don't get discouraged. They will get to you eventually. I know that is of little comfort at this point, but have faith. You will get your turn at the interview eventually. When it does happen, make sure you have done all you can do to be ready for it.

thanks man i appreciate it. i guess i'm just getting discouraged. do you know how they rate applicants? i mean coming from a steady stable job versus being furloughed?
