No per diem. 70 hour min. More possible depending on your schedule. I did around 84 each month of training.

Funnyman,
You're killing me. You get paid no less than min guarantee during training. 70 hours x $42.75. You need to pay your bills in Atlanta and back home with that amount. There's a reason we are a low cost carrier. Of course, the pilot group should show some solidarity and get a contract done to prove we are a real airline. We do the same job those SWA pilots do for significant less money. We have some of the lowest costs in the industry, we've been profitable for 8 years and we've been stonewalled for the past 2 years in negotiations.

I talked to another FO who is jumping ship to SWA yesterday. Starts training next week. He was turning in his stuff to the Chief Pilot's office. I don't blame him. He's qualified on the 737 and shouldn't be working for less than those guys get paid. We are arguably just as productive as their pilots and deserve a piece of the action from the successes AirTran's had since Joe and the boys took over.

Tag your bags and wear your pins and it will all work out. Yeah right!

Murphy, You rock!!

I liked the letter that came out saying management recognized the overall "poor morale" amongst the pilot group.

No sh*t. Really?

I'm still fairly new and I like it a lot, simply because I finally have a few days off with the kids and I have a good career outside of this place that I drop as many days as possible, but a LOT of the guys I fly with fit into that "low morale" category nicely.

No real upward movement on the CA side of the list leaves a lot of CA's on reserve, buildup, or low day off / low value lines.

Inability to use SAP 2 as it was intended to. The guy I'm flying this trip said he put in 4 requests during SAP 2 and 4 requests after the 28th and got all 8 denied due to "low coverage". He's p*ssed.

No contract for years now, and healthcare costs that are some of the highest in the industry.

Management needs someone showing them the black and white proof of how many people are bailing and will continue to bail as SWA hires 700 pilots this year, FDX gears the hiring process back up, and majors recall.

If they don't, you'll continue to see attrition in high numbers (especially F/O's under the 2 year mark), as well as people not giving a rat's about on-time performance, etc.

already dont give a rats a$$.........10 letters already for that ...and i qoute..."shameful 1 minute delay"...from you know who

Throw it away, he's not your supervisor!!

Nobody who isn't on the current seniority list should fill an ACP or CP position. That's just how I feel about it. Sorry if it sounds like beating up on the over 60 guys again, but that office could stand a makeover.

i throw them all away......dont care anymore...really really tired of being treated like a 12 year old

Off subject, but where is the Neg report from last week. Anybody have any news?
Nope.

p2p emails are quiet, too.

Got the hotel committee update where Dutch Masters took over as the Chair. Wonder why Rich P stepped down?

Also was reading the latest vacancy. No Captains AGAIN? That's 2 months in a row for a seat that is so understaffed no one can trade out of weekend trips?

Upgrade times starting to climb towards the solid 3 year mark again... *sigh*

Anyone have any insight as to why no upgrades?

That is exactly why I quit. If they don't learn how to treat people soon, it's going to cost them BIG $$ in training. Kind of weird that they have had a net loss of pilots over the last couple of months with so few airlines hiring....dontchathink?

Someone better get the message soon!

Two approaches to a problem:

We love you pilots and appreciate what you do on a daily basis to make this company successful. We'd like to reach a common ground while maintaining our position as the low cost leader in the industry.

or

You pilots are a labor cost and we are going to remind you of that on a continual basis until you see our point of view. We will remain the low cost leader in the industry and if you don't like it, you can walk out the door and we will hold it open for you. We just wish more of you senior employees would get fed up and walk so we can lower our costs even further and please the shareholders.

Remember: It's not personal, it's business. People leaving are making a business decision for them and their families. I applaud them. Two years of name calling by both sides gets a bit counterproductive. Now, we can have two years of group hug.

Leadership versus management. Big difference. I'll have to ask some of my distinguished colleagues in corporate America who graduated from the Wharton School of Business about their curriculum in regard to leadership. I am sure it was rather lacking in that department but heavy on foreign outsourcing

Tag your bags and wear your pins.

You guys have to pay for your own hotel and no per dieum while in training, get paid little, and are worked and treated like dogs. Sure where do I sign up. No thanks. I spent enough time at a penny pinching regional.

Look out, the kool-aid drinkers will be on soon.;)

Actually, I don't work very much (average past three months about 20 days off) I get paid OK (average $11K/month after 5 years) and had a townhouse and car provided for me during training, positive space to/from training, and per diem the entire time I was in training (I was assigned 717 training in Miami).

You can post whatever you want, "Captain Dad", but it doesn't look like you have an airline job, and you seem to spend your time in Airtran threads, yet claim you don't want to work here. . . . sounds pretty typical of a guy who either got turned down by us, or can't get an interview, so you have turned into an "AirTran Stalker".

Sorry it didn't work out for you, but for god's sake, get off your knees, dry your eyes, brush yourself off and find someone willing to hire you . . . .

As for the Per Diem and Hotel, I was talking about new hires not getting paid, not five year captains. Not getting paid for a days work to save the company money cheapens you and your profession. You are wrong about my work experience. I worked for the airlines for almost ten years. I am very happy in my current flying career with the second largest airline in the world (600 A/C and 3800 pilots). I am paid and treated like a king. AirTran only interests me because I was asked to interview several months ago. I turned them down. I have several friends working at Airtran and my heart goes out to them. I feel sorry for what AirScam is doing to them and the effects on their lives. I did a lot of research and have followed the forums. I am just glad I made the right choice.

I rode on you guys once. It will be the last if I can help it. I was flat out lied to. My ticket had the departure and destination on it. The ticket agent told me it was a direct flight. It didn't jive with the times on the ticket. I thought maybe they fly real slow to save on fuel. Ha Ha!!! I didn't find out until I got to the gate that I had an hour layover in MDW. I know it was my mistake for not verifying. It is a mistake I won't make again.

I am glad you like it there. Personally, I think Airtran isn't worth a second glance.

So Ty, I would suggest you get off your knees, wipe off your chin, and stop bathing in da Nile.

Capt'n,

You made the right decision in not signing up with Airtran. Now if only someone had given me some sound advice a couple of years ago....

Sounds more like it was your mistake for not knowing the difference between a DIRECT flight and a NONSTOP flight.

A DIRECT flight WILL have a stop somewhere.

A NONSTOP will not.

Wow! Thanks for clarifying that Captain Obvious.

I was talking about newhire training . . . . You really have a problem with comprehension, don't you?

The point was that if they send you anywhere other than ATL for training, they do pay. . . . . they sent my class to Miami, so they paid lodging, gave us a car, positive spaced us back and forth, and paid per diem the entire time, in addition to our pay.

Who worked a day without getting paid? Not me, Chief, but it sounds like you sure have.

Yeah . . . pretty obvious you would have been rejected at the interview anyway . . . . .you seem to have a big mouth, and a small brain, and don't even know the difference between a non-stop and a through-flight, or the difference between MDW and ORD (I see you changed your post after someone else knocked your miniscule member in the dirt over it).

If someone hired you in the past two months and you are being "paid and treated like a king" let's hear all about it, buddy, because there is no airline in the US that pays first year pilots like a king. You must be selling your @ss in your crashpad to gay flight attendents with a trust fund . . . . at least they let you wear your Burger King uniform.

You spent 10 years at a regional, and you have the nerve to complain about AirTran, huh? When you pull your head out of your @ss, let's compare bank accounts and retirement funds for the last five years, and see who made the smarter move.

Sounds to me like the "airline" that hired you isn't an airline at all, but probably EJA. . . . enjoy that sandwich, buddy, that was my back-up plan when I got hired here . . . . and I turned them down. You have fun eating THAT sandwich.

Talk about poetic justice . . . . .

Ouch! That really hurt. I think I'm going to cry. Come out of the closet and look arround. You will soon come to the sad realization that there are some company's that will actually treat you and pay you what you deserve. In your case you are probably right where you belong. Near the bottom. Have fun sweet pea.

Actually, I'm already in the middle of the 737 CA list, and that means that I already have it better right now than you will have it after an entire career at NJA. How do I know that? Because NJA was my back-up plan when I hired on here after 9/11. I was so happy I didn't ever have to go there- you can't even imagine . . .

You enjoy it, though, and enjoy those 7 day trips on perpetual reserve, for the rest of your career. . . . . . Now get going, sucker, the honey pot needs dumping. Don't drag your tie through it again . . . . and stay out of the AirTran threads, it only makes you look like a bigger idiot and wannabe than you already are.

Well I've been at AirTran over 3 1/2 years now. Should be getting my final notice of recall at UAL in the next few months, no intention of going back.
I sure wish I could sell that UAL seniority # on Ebay and make some cash.....

Anyway, getting back to the lack of upgrades....I was told it was due to the 5 737 deliveries getting pushed back into 2008 and 2009. JT in crew planning said to expect no more upgrades until around September.

I am one of the lucky ones getting captain bypass pay for now (starting April 20). They said it was due to the attrition of 717 F.O.'s.
