4 hours a day or 70 hours, whichever is higher.

For instance, in initial indoc, you're in class 5 days a week, 4 hours per day, 4 weeks per month for a total of 80 hours of pay, 10 over guarantee.

However, if you get some nice breaks in between ground and sim, between sim and O.E., or between O.E. and the beginning of the next month, you could drop to guarantee, but never below.

You will not draw any per diem until actually flying, as you are ATL-based and you will be in ATL for training. You do not draw any kind of housing allowance, nor hotel for training, so you'll have to foot the cost of housing if you don't live there.

At roughly $43 an hour, that's $3,000 a month at guarantee (gross), $3,500 at 80 hours. No medical available until the first day of the 2nd FULL month AFTER you start training. SO, if you're in the class starting a week from tomorrow, March 5th, you won't be elligible for health insurance until the 1st of May, so no medical deductions until then anyway, nor are you elligible to contribute into your 401k until your 2nd year, so your pay only deducts taxes.

Hope that helps. Enjoy training!

That was the most disorganized poor excuse for a training program I've ever seen. The instructors were great, but the system they had to work with was an abomination. Still, getting the 70 hour minimum helped take the pressure off since I didn't have to worry about paying the bills.

You've obviously never flown for PCL. That entire program was simply "we're reading the book together in class", taught by a line BAGGAGE HANDLER who went through class twice himself and had absolutely ZERO knowledge of the aircraft.

Compared to that experience, I actually enjoyed the CBT at AAI. Still had to get some things answered and I think the order of CBT/VPT/FMS-T could be better scheduled to take advantage of certain modules of learning, but altogether it wasn't that bad compared with where I've been before, except for Flight Safety and Simuflite.

Those folks have their training down to a SCIENCE. :)

one error there..

insurance actually starts the 1st day of the following month.. doesn't have to be a full month.

for example i started on the 30th. -of a 31 day month. had insurance 2 days later. one catch is it took a week maybe two to get a password and get forms filled out. but they did say that we were covered even in the interim should anything arise.

i do concur that training program was less than stellar. indoc is indoc is indoc.. zzzzz

systems in my opinion was a cluster. i did think the sim's were decent. had a good instructor. although im a fan of AQP and would rather have had it.

my biggest complaint is the A on the tail must stand for answering machine.. because anyone you call.. HR, benefits, insurance, pass benefits, payroll etc.. all you ever get is voice mail.

Sounds pretty bad at PCL. Maybe AirTran's training wasn't as bad as I thought. Admittedly, I only have one other airline to compare it with, and before that I went to Flight Safety. Either way, it's done and I'm quite happy out here on the line. :)

WOW...what awesome benefits....LOL LOL LOL I can't stop laughing....now this is a company that knows how to say "welcome". WOW oh WOW do they suck.

Did that change? When I was hired it was the first of the month following your start date. I was hired mid-Sept. '05 and had Medical benefits beginning Oct 1.

70 hr guarantee for training, health benefits. since you are based in ATL no hotel or per diem. Makes sense to me. But I work for a company that's not in bankruptcy or about to close the doors.

P.S. I'll bet indy air paid great. Right up to the point they quit paying everybody, dumbass.

You guys might be right... I might have misunderstood, since I opted OUT of the medical insurance.

At PCL we paid $120 per month for FAMILY PPO coverage. My wife pays $80 per month for the SAME AETNA FAMILY BRONZE HMO plan that AirTran offers which WE at AirTran would have to pay $400 a month to receive.

Obviously $80 is a better bargain... :)

ROFLMAO!!! :D

You know, I had several friends at Indy and a couple in our class, so I don't wish bad things for ANY of those folks but, FlyIPilot, you kinda deserved that. ;)

No, you're still correct.

Other employee groups have to wait longer than we do. 1st of the Month. I was a 28 Aug class, so 1 Sept was my effective date for health coverage.

That being said, I really think health coverage effective date of hire makes a much better first impression, and I'd like to see all the new hires beneift from that in the next contract.

That's just one way to make huys feel like they're coming into a class organization.

How about let the effective date stay where it is and bring the premiums down out of the stratosphere? That would have made a better impression on me.

What health benefits? The previous post said they do not kick in til month 2...and so what that they pay you...that is the least they should do. But, no paying for a hotel??? Sounds like a wash in the pay department. Depending on where you stay. You can not even put into your 401k for 2 years?? Maybe I read it wrong and if so, I apologize.

As for Indy Air, yes..theydid pay great til it folded, and they continued all our health insureance at no cost to us for 3 more months. I can not argue with you about how bad they were managed. But, they paid our owed vacation and paid us for all our flying til the end. Not many airlines that close do that. Say what you will but I had better pay and benefits with Indy air for the 3 months after they shut down than Air Tran has on my first day of work.

How about both? But I know what you're saying.

I have never worked for a company that paid for hotel during in base training, what did you make as a new hire F/O? I doubt it was 42 per hour, if you do the math its probably a wash.

I love people like you. Simple response for a simpleton. God forbid someone actually want to try and improve things. Put your blinders because I think the rest of your pilot group knows where your loyalty stands.

I may be a simpleton but at least I'm not a ************************* who calls people names on a computer. Maybe some day we'll meet and you can call me a simpleton to my face. For what it's worth I proudly display my union pin so blow me.

Medical starts the beginning of the first month you are there. I started at the end of the month and only had to wait 6 days for it to start.

401K/B starts after the first year, and from I can tell are B fund is pretty good compared to other airlines. Hopefully with the new contract it will go up, just like everything else will.

I'm sure we've met already. Anyone who replys with that old "if you don't like it leave" response really isn't helping with raising the bar of this profession.

My response was more out of disdain for the poster than anything else. I've been around here a few years and seen the good and the bad. That said I like it here. A LOT of things need fixing but there are places that are much worse. This guy comes out of the woodwork on all AT threads and is always negative. If he works for us I don't want to be around him. I guess that makes me a kool-aid drinking simpleton.

If all a person is going to do is bitch bitch bitch..then that person should find a different career that is more pleasing to him/her. Like maybe owning his/her own business.

Saving the profession???? Righhhht.
