Has anybody gotten through the application without having a failed drug test if you check yes for drug screening? Two of my roommates can no longer access their information due to an error message. When did AAI go electronic with the application any way? None of our references knew anything about the new application.

Please help and thanks for any information or shared failed experiences with the process.

Woodpecker,

I just completed their online app yesterday and noticed the same thing about the giant boldfaced FAILED drugtest thing. I've had to complete my fair share of wiz quizzes for the Navy, but since it's not technically DOT administered as the app states, I put no. However, on one of the latter pages of the online app it asks you to state what employers had you submit to testing, which is where I put in my info. Give it another look; you can still list the same information without the glaring FAILED message in the employer/address section.

Now I can no longer access my application to add addresses before submitting. I get an error message like my roommates and the system can no longer find our usernames or passwords.

I already disabled all pop-up blockers/firewalls and that did not fix anything.

When I try to reapply or start over the computer will not allow me since I have previously applied and advised to wait 6 months.

Did I just completely goof myself out of a job because I crashed a simple application.

Am I the only person not qualified to complete an application other than my roomates? Please tell me that your having the same problems with the application other wise I will have to drive by the cemetary to make myself feel better. (just a joke did not want to offend the resting in peace crowd.)

thanks

Has anyone heard from AirTran h.r. if this new online app is taking the place of all the resumes that have been turned in? Just curious if h.r. plans to keep both resumes coming in and accepting the online apps.

Had the same problems along with frustrations...locked out after trying to edit...didn't recognized user names, etc.

I had success in submitting the online application, but I tried to go back for an update and can't figure out how to do it. I'm pretty sure it said to update every 30 days to keep it on file.

When I go back it says the same thing-thank you for submitting an application-with no place to edit or update.

Thanks guy/gals for your responses, I do not feel as stupid as my friends say I am anymore. My references are going to try to get some updfated info about the online application and I will post next week if they find out anything other wise I can not apply b/c the computer does not want me to leave my curent job.

Thanks again.

Airtran lockout

I also did the online app stuff yesterday, got the error code, tried to get around it then finally sent Airtran an email. Response from email was to call a customer service number (which I did). After several long periods of time on hold, the rep finally said that they've been having problems with their website/computers and to try back later. I asked if I should change any info or start a new post, but was told to keep trying.

Unfortunately I can not offer any advice about the current online application protocol, I just have to add my opinion to this thread. While what I have to say won't be particularly helpful, it will put in perspective what you are going against.

While I am a big believer in AirTran, and have to say there are some really good things that are done well here, AirTran has NEVER in the entire time I have been here, been able to get any Administrative Process done consistently the right way..... EVER. Trying to get a callback from anyone in an administrative position (except the the Chief Pilots Office) takes days, weeks, to get a response... if ever.

When I got called for the interview here years ago, I never received the interview packet prior to my interview date. I understand that even to this day many times they STILL cannot get the packets out on time.

You talk about the online application being messed up... everything in this company that deals with computers is the exact same way. Sometimes it works... sometimes it does not. You should see our bidding and scheduling software.... holy moly! Our MIS Department really is clueless about alot of things. Believe me... I've dealt personally with them.

Just try getting a payroll deduction back for unused non-rev passes (buddy passes). You have better luck just buying a lottery ticket and hope you win that money back.

This is a big (unneccesary) test about wanting to work here. If these things bother anyone, then you may not be happy here, because it is my experience it has ALWAYS been like this unfortunately. I gave up letting it bother me, and just accepted that there are better places to spend money and resources, and H.R. administrative efficiency is not it.

I know the company knows all about this... so I just have to believe that they do not want to spend any money on these type of issues.

My three cents.

Amen, and pass the ammunition. MIS here is pretty weak.

In fact, the whole application/interview/hiring part is probably the most understaffed side of the Company, and probably because it doesn't generate any revenue for the Company (just a guess).

All I can say is "grin and bear it" and show a little appreciation for some of the overworked individuals you come into contact with, and they will usually work hard on your behalf.

On the other hand, though, I have never had a problem with my paycheck, and when I submit any sort of expense report (monthly parking, etc) I have always been paid promptly. I would say that once you are hired, trained, and on the line, things go remarkably smoothly, so hang in there.

Put "UAL + 1"

Heh-heh. Couldn't resist, but with those most recent "give-backs" our rates are higher after about year 5.

Can anyone say whether the online application is a requirement now, or will a resume and LOR from a contact still do the trick?

One of my references called AAI HQ and spoke with G.C. She mentioned that AAI was aware of the failed drug tests but not aware of applicants being blocked out or the error messages. The good news was that she did mention they were meeting today 1-20-05 to discuss the new system.

As far as the hourly pay question I put $40 since that is @first year pay/hour and also listed full time vs the other choices.

Does "Resume Writer" help fill out online applications, too? Good luck to all with the new race to be the first to accomplish the new application without throwing your keyboard out the window.

The online app has a matrix where you break down your flight time and it does have one box for PIC and another for Captain. As for the other stuff, I spoke with Stephanie Grantham (AirTran HR) at DFW this past weekend and she said they're aware of all the kinks in the system. Additionally, despite what the website says about updating every 30 days, she said just update every 6 months. I'm assuming they're trying to buy a little time to get all the bugs out of the system.

That's great but does anyone have an answer regarding the difference between PIC and Captain time on the AirTran matrix? I see two scenarios: (1) PIC is for anything except PIC for an aircraft which requires a SIC or a type rating; or (2) PIC is civilian, Captain is only for military flights.

I just finished the app, no kinks I could find.

As far as difference between PIC and Captain, I simply used my head and in reference to the FAR's, if an aircraft required two pilots and I was the PIC WHO SIGNED FOR THE AIRCRAFT, I put it under Captain time. For Part 91 flying, it went under PIC only, not Captain (since an F/O wasn't required for the Aztecs and such).

in reference to the FAR's, if an aircraft requires two pilots there is no provision for logging "Captain time". But I understand your point.
