A quick question for those currently in class or newly hired.

What are the average new-hire qualifications? Time, background, etc... Thanks, just curious...

New hires average somewhere around 4500-5000 hours right now, but there's no hard rule as far as I know. At my interview one applicant had 1700TT, but must have known someone important. Backgrounds vary - most have strong (1000+ hours) 121 PIC. About 10% have only corporate and 20% have only military backgrounds.

Out of my new hire class of 14 only one did not have a recommendation from an Air Tran pilot.

I keep hoping to read some encouraging news regarding the possibility of an interview there. I'm getting ready to get my third jet type and update again but unfortunately I don't think it's gonna do me whole lot of good since I have no 121PIC. Just curious if anyone has gotten anywhere with Airtran recently who had no 121PIC but had a 737 type?

Guess I'll keep plugging away!

I can't tell you about the recent newhires, since I haven't been able to get anyone hired lately.

The DO really likes 121 time, and right now, 121 PIC time. Having a B737 type and no time in it would just make it look like you are in the pool for SWA, which would not help!

I have heard that the people being called for interviews now have all been in the stack since August of 2002.

Roger that Ty. It's a Falcon 10 type. While I think the world of SWA, I much prefer to stay in the South"east". Who knows?
