Just received a call from AirTran. My May 27th class has been pushed back to June 3rd.
Anyboody has more info on this?
Gretta seemed to be in such a hurry that I chose not to ask any questions...

Thanks

Well, that's not too bad. Look at it as an extra week to relax. Also does anyone know how many people are in the current new hire class ( if any are going on right now).

this is why I told Catfish to go to his JB interview. Next week could be next month, which could roll into next quarter, etc etc.

Good luck guys...hope this wait is short.

AirTran SOP. There have been more classes "pushed back" over the past couple of years than have gone on the originally scheduled date. Not sure why this keeps happening. There seeems to be a different excuse each time.

When I was "hired" back in Jan of '02, my original class date was Feb 4th, then Feb 25th, then Apr 8th, then "postponed until further notice", then June 21st, then Aug 12th...which was subsequently postponed, but then re-instated, and then finally went as scheduled on Aug 12th.

So, it could be worse....they are only pushing you back by a week instead of 8 months.

Things seem to change there on a moment's notice, so flexibility is the key. Once you get there, it is a good place to be, and you will enjoy it. The frustrating part is waiting for class to be scheduled and re-scheduled.

From what I heard, the May 27 class IS pushed back to June 3rd. Had a brother of a friend of mine call yesterday--told him about the shift in the class date--he hadn't heard it yet. I think it's due to the 737 training schedule. Sit tight, once you're here you're gonna like it--ALOT!!

AIRTRAN class date

I received the same call today. No explanation, very brief and I also asked no ?'s of Greta.

Although it is frustrating as hell when it happens to you, the reality is that the 737 training program is brand-new, our new ATL training center has only been open a few months, and it sounds like they are making some changes. The Company would rather delay a class than pay guys to sit around waiting for a sim date, that much is very clear. . . . . D'Oh!

The good news is that once you get on the property and begin training, things should go pretty smoothly.

In other words, hang in there, it will happen soon.

Uh oh,

I heard my name in vain here!;)

It is pretty ironic that the message was left on my answering maching while I'm at another interview.

Looks like Memorial day weekend at home!

I just got off the phone with the training department and they said that the class was moved in order to prevent any overlap in the 737 training schedule. As Ty said earlier, the 737NG training program is brand new and the first class of line pilots hasn't even started yet (They start next week). FYI, the current bid packet has 31 717 FO positions available (All will be filled by new hires) and 6 737 FO positions available. So movements of class dates may occur but are not likely to be large. Be patient, the flood gates are opening.

Yeah you know all about those 737 classes don't you! Congrats on the tenative 737 Capt class, the sky is once again a safer place.

Duck and cover, guys, because I am on the cusp of that class, if I don't change my bid.

Kind of tempting to get it out of the way, but I think I will wait until after the holidays . . . . and enjoy one more holiday season of primo schedules.

FLB717...I see you may have the next 717 upgrade....CONGRATS!! I should be right behind you on AUG 9th. Crew planning held my seat lock.....

FLB717,

Looks like our conversation the other day is a moot point, CONGRATULATIONS! Because they moved my start date back a week I think they are going to ask you guys to come to my "Captain's class" beginning on 6/14. I'll give you a call so we can get together.

It's not final until 5/21 but the most junior Capt. slot on the B737 right now is a 11/01 hire date. The 717 is looking more like 6/01.

Upgrades had slowed due to transitions as the DC9's were phased out, but they will probably be running 2 years and less as the 737 start showing up next month.

Ty,

Which aircraft would you chose? I know you commute, so would that make the 717 the choice for you?(since you could have a better schedule) And, are the pay rates the same?

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

Congrats to all you guys on your upgrade. I realize the May 27th class has been pushed back to June 3rd, any idea when the next new hire class after that will be? Thanks.

Unfortunately, most of the details about the 737 haven't been made clear. If it looks like an ATL base, I would probably take it, but if it is MCO, I don;t want a 2 leg commute, that's for sure.

The 737-700 is the same pay rate, but the -800 is, I think, a 13% increase. This is the last year for this contract, so we are looking for an increase in pay, plus some tightening of work/rules and QOL issues.
