Thanks, AV8OR.

I am very disappointed with the "minimum" requirements that they are using, too. I agree that we are missing out on lots of great people.

I have made my feeling on the subject known, as have many other AirTran pilots.

All I can say is that when they change this requirement, no one will be happier than me, because I have been submitting resumes (for the past two years) of some great corporate and regional guys that would be great here.

Funny how when somone makes a reasonable post on the subject, they get a reasonable response. Hmmmn, hope it's not catching.

""Quality" is a pretty subjective word, Bags.

True story- the last time my Mother flew UAL (a few months ago, from SAN to MSN), UAL lost her bag, and told her they would "look into it".

Although she never heard back from UAL, she did get a telephone call later that day from the foreman of a roadside construction project, who called to tell her that they had found her bag in a ditch by the side of the road."

Yet AT's baggage performance is pretty darn close to UAL's despite no codeshares, internat, ect. Maybe the 2-ply hefty luggage she used closely resembled the trash bags UAL uses... Hmmm. On-time? AT was something like #16 out of 17 for the 3Q. Well at least they didn't find her bags in the everglades....

"How does UAL's 737 rate compare with AirTran's? Well, let's just say that maybe the next contract you guys get, you could aim for "AirTran plus 1%" because right now, that would be a pretty decent raise."

Nothing would make me happier than to see AT get the richest contract in the industry. But lets be honest, what percent of your medical do you pay? Whats your A-plan multipier? B-plan multiplier? How many 12 year 737-800 pilots do you have? none? So you are bragging about a rate for a jet not yet on the property? I'll bet big dollars your "union" will buckle and take less. Much less. Quick question, clear it up for us. You say you are about to make Capt. What will YOUR rate be? Real jet, real Capt, not some maybe one day if we actual get them fantacy. how does that compare to the 737-500 at UAL (104 seats)?

Back to the subject. I think the major gripe of the mil guys is that AT penalizes them for the way the AF/Navy counts time. At most other places, the clock starts at push. Not so for those guys. All they want is the ability to correct the books to the exact standards YOU used to get YOUR job. That has absolutely nothing to do with who has the bigger watch, just with leveling the playing field

TBag,
Im not going to comment about any thing but one thing. YOU had better have a little more respect for the dead pal. Your sorry ass would have been in the same place as that crew and passenger compliment if YOU had been the pilot. That accident was NOT the fault of VJ. You talk about research, do some. That also was the reason YOUR aircraft (all 121) have cargo detection and supression. Shall we be little children here and count the UAL crash's and number of dead, Punk. I would have thought better of a Officer of our Military.

Bags, you really need to check your facts before you post.

FL (which is our symbol, or AAI if you prefer) has been #1 or #2 each month in bag matching pretty consistently for the last 6 months . . . and we do have code shares, go figure.

You can only keep saying that we don't have the 737 on the property until June, then what are you going to say? The sims are installed in our new training facility, the Check Airmen have been to school, the manual is being written, the planes are coming, guy, get used to it.

See you in DEN . . . or IAD . . . . or SFO . . . . . or PDX . . . . or SEA . . . look closely, and you'll recognize me- I'll be the handsome one in the left seat (looks like it's going to go junior).

PS, you must be one unhappy POS to keep invoking the VJ crash. You don't hear me ripping UAL for their numerous fatals . . . real lack of personal and professional integrity, if you ask me.

Ty,

After months of observation it has become clear that you suffer from a severe inferiority complex for two reasons:

1. Civilian background

2. Working for Airtran

While there is reason to be ashamed for one, the other was a choice you made.

If you would P.M. me I think I can help you work through the issues.

I for one am not ashamed of either. So Prof still dream of sleeping with your mother?;)

Heh, heh.

Now, that's funny. No need to do this in a PM, just start a string called "The Doctor is In" and I'll drop by once a week.

I'm glad you've come to the board, though, Doc, because I am concerned about our fellow board contributor, "T-Bags". He is obviously caught up in his "Mommy Patterns", has a history of bedwetting, and there was that incident with a farm animal that went largely unreported . . . .

I just can't decide whether we should give the electroshock therapy a chance, or just go right for the lobotomy.

Professional Aviators

Is this where I can find a few professionals? No...okay I'll look elsewhere. Thanks anyway.

Ty,

While you are operating an aircraft as an aviation professional are these the type thoughts that pop into your head?

I see.

Ty, I sense a lot of latent anger emanating from your need for respect from your peers.

Have you considered why these thoughts and ideas "pop into your head"?

Alrighty then!

So just to re-cap before this thread is relegated to the dustbin of history:

Ty Webb and FLB717 hate UAL and specifically T-Bags

T-Bags hates AirTran and specifically Ty Webb and FLB717

I think that just abouts answers my question that started all of this. To those with constructive replies, thanks very much! To all others, thanks for the entertainment! Now I've gotta go put in a few dozen cross-country requests to get my hours up to AirTran's standards! :p

hoya out

No I dont hate TBag I just get tired of his Valudeath crap. UAL I like just fine. I hope they stay and return to its former glory. As far as TBag hating AirTran, Ty and Me. I would say thats a Big yup. But in all fairness I cant speak for him.

Yawn.

OK, that was entertaining, for about two whole posts.

Give it a rest, kid.

Ty, I offered my help via P.M. yet you refused.

This isn't entertainment.

Perhaps it is time we had some face to face time with you lying on my comfortable couch.

I know the Jan. bid is closed, so how about we both set aside a mutually agreed on day in Feb.?

I'll have some delicious grape juice and sugar cookies waiting. I suggest you wear your comfortable shoes.

And the military people wonder why they have no friends.
