Is AirTran planning to phase out the 717 in favor of the 737?

No, we are getting 6 717's this year. total of 85

I hope not, the 717's alot less work.

Conspicuously absent from that pic of EVH is DLR on the floor wearing his knee pads trying to "buy" his way back into VanHalen.

rumor

i did hear from someone that the company is/may try to convert these to 737's

.......no.

I was told that, too, by someone high up in the industry.

Quite a few years left w/ the 717 (at least 5 or 6), according to a friend in ground school from a conference call from Joe L.

Two VH avatars in one thread. Sweet!! Eddie is my hero. If I knew how to switch avatars I'd have a Flying Eddie.

I really like the 717, so I hope they don't go away any time soon.

I am shocked and amazed, and quite frankly sickened and terribly disappointed in the rock 'n roll loving portion of the human race, that there are 3 people left on this planet that still give even one have of a dead rat's a$$ about Van Halen.

Van Halen RULES?!?! Give me a farking break. They rule the world of drunken, burned out, over the hill, has-been (or in my book, never were) heap of cast offs.

Make that 4.

Just being burned out (or dead) doesn't remove them from the wall of rock gods. If that were the case you'd have to remove Hendrix, right? SRV?

Fly on, Little Wing.

Different deal altogether. Those guys died (most tragically and sadly) while at the tip top of their game. Some of the best stuff Hendrix did was on "Electric Ladyland" and SRV's absolute best, IMO, was "In Step". Both of these were done just before they died. Neither of these greats "burned out". They were, like I said, at the very top of their game when they died.

Van Halen burned out and has been totally insignificant in the rock world for a long time now and should do us all a favor and just bow out. Trying to hang on to something that was (or again IMO, never was) is just sad and pathetic.

Fargin-D,
Van Halen has died "most tragically and sadly" too. We see eye to eye there, but to say that they weren't one of the most influential Rock Bands in history is just wrong. (I know, I know, you didn't say those exact words, but you seem to have implied that, though)
In today's world of over-produced, formulaic 'stars', it can be refreshing to listen to 'And the cradle will rock' or 'Unchained'. I do believe that the best artists are the one ones nobody ever hears about. Best guitar player in North America right now is hands-down a guy from Texas named Monte Montgomery. Not pure rock, but he's unbelievable.

Spoken like a true Dooshbahg. VH was nothing short of revolutionary, nobody with even a cursory knowlege of rock disputes this. VH1, Fair Warning, Women and Children First, are you kidding me? Stick to downloading Brittney Spears and N'sync.

OK, rant over, I'm done, all VH topics should be continued on one of the message boards below.

You like the ones that die prematurely only? If they were still alive today, I don't think SRV or Hendrix would have decided to stop playing their music because it became unfashionable by todays' standards.

And as far as the venom your spewing....what the hell is the matter with you boy?
