Whale, I understand what you're saying and appreciate your thoughts. Right now we don't know what kind of advice ALPA National is giving us through their attorneys - the only people who ARE talking to us right now.

Our MEC Chairman is silent and, I'm assuming, 100% for the deal as he usually is. The rest of the MEC is trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together, along with input from our OUTSIDE legal counsel (Katz), and will come up with a solution. It may go along with ALPA National, it may not. They're not really on the forefront of my mind right now, although they DO have veto ability at the national level if this deal exposes them to too much liability a la TWA.

In the end, I believe our local council will be left to figure it out for ourselves. I'm definitely looking forward to not looking back over my shoulder all the time wondering what management is up to...

Lear your killing me. You seem in the know, so I assume you already know ALPA and your MEC have no intentions of putting this out for an AT vote. No one SWA mgt. nor anyone else would appreciate being sent on a wild goose chase ( as AT ALPA and your MEC is doing). It obvious you see that.

That's what we were told, too, except there's a loophole in SL9 that could be exploited to open it BEFORE our crews start transitioning, thus staffing it with SWA pilots. It's not entirely clear how the displacements would work in that case with Par 11 of SL9.

Just questions that we're trying to get answered in the 4-party agreement. It may totally work that way in the end, just standing by for answers...

The non-specific language is the norm in the SWA/SWAPA world....I have always disliked it as I am not someone who just wants to just trust that things will be okay, but trust is a big part of the relationship between SWA/SWAPA. You could read parts of our contract 15 times and still not know what it says. There are always Q & A parts that are the ONLY way to get your question answered in some cases. I would bet this stuff will not fly in the ALPA world and that is probably what they are doing throughout the agreement.

I'm telling you this with all the sincerity I can muster... the longer your MEC delays and the more you nitpick the AIP (that your MC agreed to), the more GK will question the decision to integrate, and the more I realize why you likely missed the cut here twice. SWA expects a degree of loyalty and trust from their employees - we're family, after all.

The brass ring is within your reach and I honestly believe you guys are going to let ALPA piss it away for you. That's sad. I have friends at AAI. They don't deserve what ALPA is setting you guys up for.

PS. My AAI friends aside, I couldn't care less if you join our seniority list. My life will change not one iota one way or the other. Can you say the same?

*snerk* I don't recall any loyalty-related or union-related questions in the interview. But maybe I missed something... Always amused when someone I don't know and have never met goes assuming things about me, says something about the person making the assumption.

Opinions vary. I'm happy now. I'll be happy in the future, whatever it brings. At least I'll have done it doing what I love and making decisions with the best information I have in the best way I know. It's served me well thus-far, I think I'll stick with it. "To thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, that thou canst not then be false to any man."

With 6 airlines notched, I'll agree with all swa posters - being employed here is a healing process- honestly. It's not all rainbows and unicorns or any fluff- but it is genuine, it's love, it's family- GK will either integrate you freely in that manner or not at all- he certainly won't integrate you just to screw you and have you collecting an enormous paycheck without earning your loyalty. But remember- you're not in the circle of trust yet, and there is an awful lot of loyalty to be earned by you as well. There are no one way streets- and humility and grace are required of all of us through this.

Yes, Polonius was a shmuck, but his advice was good. Just have to be someone who lives by their own advice. I do OK at that... most days.
