There's one on the south side of Phoenix, and right now at 430 am, I can't, for the life of me, remember the name! Other than that, I think Carefree is kind of an airport community on the north east side of Phoenix. Outside of Phoenix, I know of a few, but they all seem to be in the middle of nowhere, like Salome.....

Strella is the one in Chandler. I think there's one up around Payson but not 100%.

Also, there's one that used to be out by South Mountain. A TWA Capt. I flew with had a couple of planes out there. I don't know if it's still around--lots of development nearby these days.

Maybe Kathy (ResumeWriter) would have a better idea. Good luck.TC

See this link for a pretty comprehensive list of airparks in Arizona: http://www.airporthomes.com/ap-az.htm

Stellar is the closest to PHX: http://www.stellarairpark.com

Payson has a "though the gate" subdivision attached to the municipal airport, occasional homes for sale, don't know it's built out or not.

Also in the Phoenix area, http://www.pegasus-airpark.com/

A ways out of town to the west, is http://www.eagleroost.com/

If you want to get up in the pines, take a look at Mogollon Airpark, located between Payson and Showlow. Beautiful area, a little remote, both homes and lots still available. One downside-- they lost nine homes there in the forest fire a couple of years ago, and they'll always be susceptible to that sort of thing. http://www.az82.com

Thanks for the info, appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The RodeoChedeski fire got hundreds of homes in the area, including a good friend of mine's on Mogollon Airpark.

He just finished it after YEARS of working on it, just in time for the fire to take it all and I think part of his hangar.

I grew up and learned to fly all over the area there...it's not exactly central AZ, but it's nice in the summer months.

There was a proposed airpark for summer/weekend homes between Taylor and Showlow, AZ. Silver Creek, or Skypark Ranch I think was the name of the development that includes a nice golf course and fishing lake. The wx is more temperate there as well....nice in the summer and not too bitter in the winter like Mogollon.

The original developer went broke 20 years ago, but I don't know if anyone's picked it up. I haven't lived there for almost that long. It was a long/wide runway (6000' elevation).
