Does anyone on the board have any experience as an aircraft dealer. How hard is it to start up and is it a lucrative business? Interested in mostly in GA Piston to business jets. Thanks for any help.

GA Piston to Bizjets? Way to narrow it down!

Stay away from those hang gliders--they're almost as costly as those large airline jets. Good thing you've cut those out of your market :)

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

The FBO I work for is a Cessna dealer, but as far as I know, we just sell planes to ourselves for rental or leaseback. I really don't know anything about it, but it seems like it'd be fun!

the market is cooling a little. Corporate aircraft have imploded. I would say try to broker an airplane. Find someone who wants an airplane then go find it for them. You can get 1-3% for your effort. The problem is when the buyer gets the tail number they look on the net and get the owners name and cut you out of the deal. I just fly the planes for the dealers. That was sure fun!
