I recently saw a ad calling for pilots with at least 1000 hrs PIC in "transport category" aircraft. What exactly determines if an aiplane is "transport category." I couldn't find the definition in the FAR/AIM. I know a look at the airworthiness certificate would state what it is...

Is a C-402 "transport category"...? I should know but it's been a long time since I flew one! DUH!

A Transport Category aircraft is certificated under Part 25, rather than Part 23, or under CAR 4 if it's an old enough design. Typically those are aircraft over 12,500 lb MGTOW and turbojet aircraft, although there are some exceptions.

A 402 wouldn't be a transport category aircraft
