Any Airnow pilots can confirm this? On climbto350 the other day Airnow was advertising EMB-110 starting salary 41,000 plus per diem. If so, definately a nice improvement from what it was previously.

Joking ???????

Is this a JOKE or what??????

I was offered a job there a couple of years ago. If memory serves they were paying about 30,000 salary, 12 cents per mile and about 1.25 an hour for per diem. They paid more if you were willing to tdy to cover vacations etc. That was almost 3 years ago though.

What a deal, $41K to be the next Bandit incident/(or worse) in the NE!
Lots of better deals out there these days

Didn't want to start any flame. Was just saying its nice to see that the cargo arena was raising pay. About 2005 I believe they were around 28K a year in the Bandits 1st year and only earlier this year they were 31K. And you are right about the fracs paying better generally to go to the right seat. A free ATP usually from what I understood on the Bandit training with Airnow. As far as accidents, have they had some more since 05, I thought it was 2 that year, 1 fatal and the other fuel exhaustion or something.

Probably have to sign a contract, fly out and backs monday morning through saturday morning and live in some dumpy a$$ podunk town in northern maine or the carolinas, probably fly less than 400 hours a year at a "time-building" company, no wonder why they are offering so much cash, it has to be attractive somehow.

Sure

And, as to better deals, most, if not all of the Fracs will pay you that to sit in the right seat, and move you over to the left pretty quick. Avantair, especially.

Will most if not all fracs hire you with 1200 total and a multi ticket? Not a chance. That 41k is pretty good pay considering the job. Those monday through sat am out and backs are cake. Where do you get based with Avantair? How much does their starting salary get you where you would have to live? Maybe you could post some info on pilots that do dumb things and run out of gas too, thats about as relevant as anything regarding their safety.

Werent ASA Capts making that kinda coin back in the late 80's on the bandit?

I have 2400TT and 350ME and cant even get a call back from Avantair, so there is no way that is a relevant argument dude. Everyone starts at 35k at Avantair anyways.

I'm really surprised you haven't been called. Lately, we've seen some newhires in the 1500TT range, usually with lots of ME, but TT on that low side. And, you're right, everyone starts at $35K, but when you upgrade at yr 1 anniversary, you go right to $53K. Add in perdiem, and you're easily in the 60s at yr 2. Do some OT. and you can be in the 70s.
If you're still interested, PM me, I'd be glad to offer any insight or advice on getting to the recruiter.
Not that it's for everyone, but it's been a great fit for me. Flying is widespread, this wk, I was in Montana, Texas, California, Ohio, Colorado....
List of domiciles is pretty long, and people live all over the country.
Good luck, Happy New Year

Got to meet some of the Bandit drivers this winter. Have a lot of respect for what they do, and I doubt I want to follow in their footsteps. Flying scheduled in NE winters are awful as is the backside of the clock. Not for me. Otherwise if that doesn't bother you and you're a responsible, smart pilot, I'd say go for it.

Now about avantair... would I have to move or is 25 mins to IAD, 1.4 hrs to BWI good?

BWI is a gateway, within 2 hrs qualifies. And, you'd probably be able to commute out of IAD most of the time anyway, (as your preferred airport)

Get over yourself buddy.
Someday you will relize that dumpy podunk town in Northern Maine was the best place you've ever visited, that is of course if you have ever been there.

Second That!!
15 days skiing already, 200+/- miles on my Ski-doo, got first tracks on my first 3 runs this AM at Sugarloaf...
Gotta go back to work so I can get some rest!

I flew almost 1000 hrs in 89 and again in 90 and didn't break 40k untill I got on the 120. But I still had fun on the old Bandit.

Get over what, those towns are so small you probably know my family that is still there. I do still get up there now and then, I'll give you a haircut when I land my float bird on moosehead.

Did you work for airnow up there or for one of the guys in the southern part of the state?

Oh WOW! $41K! Let me get right in line for that. Last year I made about one and a half times that flying Bandits. And our still have A/C, and a co-pilot to help push the freight and act as an auto pilot in cruise.:p I also wouldn't want to be trying to fly around thunderstorms in their birds come summer time since all you get is a strike finder from what I've heard. No thanks.

90% E110's have radar, they may be archaic, but they work! Approach/Center also can be very helpful, if they don't have the greatest equip. along your route, and if your weather forecasting skills tell you it's no good, then we wait. I have delayed T/O for 3 flights in 2 yrs for TS's flying the NE. Sounds like your confidence might be a little lacking in your skills to navigate safely without your bells and whistles and partner in the RS. You remind me of the GV Cpt. that asked if I thought it was OK to T/O through a 2000' layer of light rime without getting deiced:smash: By the way, AirNow has 2 E110's equipped with the GNS 430W. The whole fleet will slowly take this route. If you peeps who keep knocking AN have never worked for them, then you should really keep your traps shut. If you have worked for them and you still are sour, then most likely you were a weak, whinney, lazy pilot. Congrats on your 60k/yr pay for an E110, please do tell which co. is paying that kind of $$.
Thanks

The dirty-dirt on the northeast side of ptk, I don't work there but theyre the only company I know of operating bandits that pay that high. Maybe the only other bandit operator in the country but I may be wrong.

 Yeah. all my bells and wistles! Trust me my confidence has nothing to do with it, strike finders SUCK! I know I occationally fly a 310 with a strike finder and it's basically completely useless for picking your way through thunderstorms. As for the guy in the right seat, they can make life easier, but you have to keep a close eye one them, they're all pretty green when they start out. I fly single pilot just about as much as I fly with a co-pilot, trust me it's alot nicer just to have someone to talk to while your out on a trip, plus it just reduces your work load overall. I don't know where you came up with such an opinon of me in the 3 or 4 sentences I wrote about how your pay and equipment are lacking. BTW there are 2 ondemand Bandit operators and they both pay about the same, AirNow's pay is low, that's why they have to hire fairly low time pilots and have high attrition. The info I got about AirNow was from one of your former pilots that came to work for us, he didn't work out though, wasn't ondemand material.
