MSY van base

As of now I'm the only one based in MSY (actually lakefront - NEW) We've got two Caravans and one Baron but I'm the only one down there as of now. Only one run out of New Orleans as of now. Other than having to cruise through the hood every day to get to the airport NEW is a pretty cool place to be--beats the northeast in my opinion.

During my stay at USC, I enjoyed being outbased...never really liked passing through CMH. I got sick of the popcorn/smoke smell in the PDQ lobby and the Ansel Adams prints in the hallways. Aircraft swaps were rare for me. I flew TUL371, and once I flew nothing but 1653W for nine months straight...ended up with 930 hrs in that beast. Great airplane back then. It was cool having your own bird...leave the flightbag and walkman in place, and I always knew what shape it was in. My other favorite was 78RE. So is 4098S still in the fleet? I joined the MHC in that one...good thing it had a simple autopilot and the throwover yoke for some added room. I really miss driving those Barons around.

Can anyone provide some info on the MEM base? I've seen the office and wanted to go in and talk to someone but I haven't seen any aircraft.

Ahhh yes..... 95BB.....here's some pics starcheck1 for you to reminisce over....I hear that shortly after I flew it out of TEB, it geared up in BDL...

My avatar is also from one of those fine Northeast "Ice" approaches in 95BB.

98Sh!tty, yeah she was still there in November. The things those poor planes have been through.

My fav. was 4AW, with the new avionics. IMO the dog was 400RP.

I was stuck in 4098S for over a month before I left ...just about the least equipped baron of the bunch. Another P.O.S that was always based out east was the redtail 9044V I was always trying to figure out how all the crap planes were always based in the NE. Just bad luck or did management really not like us.

I think I'm going to be sick. If dispatch ever gives me that plane I'm going to call in sick on the spot.

The good old Royal Princess. Every time I got in that airplane, something broke. At least it was usually before I ever taxied out. Did fly it through a tropical storm last year, and it held together.

Relax, man...that was 11+ years ago...I think any cooties are long gone by now, replaced by all new and improved germs. So you think that's the only one in the fleet that's been 'broken in'? Somehow I doubt that.
