I very recently passed my 135 checkride at Airnet in the Baron and have just started Navajo training today. That checkride is tomorrow. Airnet has what I would consider the most intense training program outside the military, as well it should be. Some advice to anyone applying to Airnet, or waiting to come to training, you better be ready to work. Another peice of advice is that during training if you are not in class, the sim, or in an airplane you better be sleeping or studying. The instructor staff is awesome and I would challenge anyone to find a better bunch of pilots at any company.

Money,
You claim that the training you have received at Airnet is the most intense training outside of Military aviation. A few questions if you have the time.
What other programs besides military training have you gone through?

Which branch of the service was it?

How does the training you received at Airnet compare to the other Part 135 and Part 121 that you have attended?

What was the most difficult part?
Did you have a hard time memorizing all the memory Items? Limitations?

Thanks for your time.

Craig a softie, yes maybe...but he has nothing to do with the rest of the training process after your hire/interview. Now he is a good person to talk to if you need something while in training however.

I'd say that Airnet's training is very thorough. I'd also say that it is a fairly structured environment.

At times it can seem like you are drinking out of the proverbial fire hose.

When I wen't through, we did spend most waking hours doing something involved with the training process. But, we did find a few hours each weekend to do something non-related. I think it's important to not get yourself phsyced out about it.

I personally can not compare Airnet's program to the Military. I do know several people going through now, or have gone through training in the Military services. It is Intense, and it lasts for what, 2 years almost? I've also been in two different 121 training environments and would say that Airnet is pretty comparable. I will comment and say I thought the Initial Pilot Training program and Upgrade Training at the 141 Program I previously worked at was a little more structured and standardized than Airnet's.

Overall, I'd say Airnet is on par with most of the 121 world (I have no other 135 experience, but from talks with other 135'ers, I'd say it may be a better).

Craig is the Pilot Recruiter, he is no longer the Director of Training. Although, they use some videos from his day in that role.

On another note, just read all the memos. What should be made about the repeated references to a "Five Night a Week Airline"? (I already work 5 nights, I don't mind, I just wonder whats going on...) It's been in several of the past memos.

I made the transition from AirNet to 121. AirNet can be tuff because it's usually people with just over 1200 hours and not having flown anything high performance. Also, flying at AirNet can get very agressive.

The training department at AirNet does an excellant job, just look at the safety record. However, there are a few guys in there that are on power trips.

To me the main diferance was the systems training. You can't compare Flight Safety's systems training to AirNet's systems training in a Baron. Flight Safety was top notch. There's just a lot of info when transitioning from a prop to jets.

The sim training at Flight Safety was easy compared to AirNet. It makes it much less stressfull to have 9-10 sim sessions compared to 4-5 to get used to an aircraft. Having a co-pilot makes it much easier too.

Hope that helps.

I do want to add attitude is everything.

Tommy Schaner is the new CP and is in charge of everyone. I believe Dan Vossman is the head of lear training however (i think he is the one), but Sean Morrow and Keith Anderson are just as good in the lear training. They are the 3 lear guys i know of. We use Simuflite as our training partners.

congrat!

Hey starchkr.
your profile shows that you made it to the Lear, how long you think before you make the jump to the left seat?. Good job, and congragulation.

bigboy...

thanks, i love the lear, 8 months and i think i am starting to catch up to it.

As far as how long to the left seat...well it depends on which route i take with the company at this point. If i stay on the freight side then it will probably be about 8-12 months before i could jump. However if i want to go to the "other side" :)D) flying pax for jetride then i could possibly make the jump within the next month. The question is, do i want to move again. I have a lease through next JAN and i really do not want to commute again, especially with the jetride schedules. I really just don't know at this point, I keep going back and forth between my options. Who knows?!?!?!?!?!

Hey is this Mahd??????

if so, how's it going man!!!! it's been awhile.

Yes sir......I'm was a fellow cargo guy myself. You single pilot guys are some of the best in the industry! I scared the Sh$T out of my self many of times single pilots.. Wish a had more of ya at the commuters. I fly with a bunch of CFI knobs with a couple hundred hours.....think they know everything.........GOD I miss CARGO!!!

Good luck Man..
