Greetings from the deep south!
I was wondering if anyone out there is currently flying for, or has flown for Airnet. I am ready to start submitting resumes and am very interested in this company. Looking for the good, the bad, and yes the ugly. Up to this point I've heard very little and I have not been able to find much outside of the website and a few magazine articles. Any words of wisdom or other info about good freight haulers out there is greatly appreciated. Check on with you soon.

Here is some totally useless information but it is all I have ;). I put all my information in their form on the web page a couple years ago just for fun and because I would like to work there one day. A couple weeks later I got a post card that said to call and schedule an interview. I was like......"whuuuut?" So anyhow I called just to see what the "error" was. I spoke with Craig and he told me in a manner that I felt was a little abrasive that "we only hire the best" and it was a mistake etc. I was polite (and I knew that before I called) but I thought he could have handled it with more tact. He basically said you are garbage but not in those words. I have heard from talking to folks who worked there that there will be no shortage of information on Jesus included with your paycheck, etc. Also that the owner who is supposed to be acting out his Christianity parks his plane on another part of the field when he comes in and steps out and into his limo avoiding the Airnet staff on his own ramp. Any or all of this other than my personal experience could be bs. It doesn't make me not want to work there but I do prefer an owner that interacts with all levels of the company. Oh....and if I remember correctly you don't want to go to (forgot name of city) in the Northeast and fly with a Lear Captain there who is supposed to be like the biggest jerk who ever lived.

airnet

The founder of the company doesn't own it any more. It is now a publicly held company. Back when it was privately owned, Jerry probably put in those tracts as an act of his faith. If someone doesn't want to read it, they can throw it away. I've been personally solicited by my past employer for united way contributions, so these types of things are not unusual. That doesn't happen now.

Craig Waishka is...different.

"Oh....and if I remember correctly you don't want to go to (forgot name of city) in the Northeast and fly with a Lear Captain there who is supposed to be like the biggest jerk who ever lived." Unless you plan to fly single pilot ops for the rest of your career, you'd better learn how to get the job done and live with big jerks in little cockpits. Rumple, why would you comment about working someplace without having experience there? I could say much about astrophysics but I'm hardly qualified to give career advice in that field.

I worked there. It's a job. Mx are great. When I was there there was no base lock or contract. There are both now. There is talk of unionizing the pilot group. That is important trend information about QOL. Starting pay is pretty good for light-twin cargo ops. Benefits are ok.

I wasn't being ugly about it. I'd like to work there when I get the time. I also disclaimed what I said other than personal experience. I have no problem with them giving out tracts or whatever or any of the rest of it to a great extent, I was just saying this is what I've heard and it may or may not be true.

HUH?!?!?!? Where the heck has this thread gone. "Jesus"?!?!?...parking planes at different FBO's....what in the world??? Yes the previous "owner" had a great faith in God, and he showed it in everything he did, and sure there were a few small faithful things in the company such as our core values. Now we have a new CEO, and a new set of values....lets not even get started on how mechanical the company has become since he took over, no longer a very personable place...too "square." Also, sorry no jesus stuff with our paychecks..never had any, and i know we never will again. As far as parking at different places...i saw Jerry's planes many times on our ramp. I am sure he parks other places now...he no longer owns the company so why should he only park on the airnet ramp? Finally, if you want an owner who interacts with all levels of the company...well, this might not be the place. I have yet to meet or even see our new CEO, and he has been around for awhile...tells ya something right there. I met Mercer my first week with the company, HE was a personable man.

Why the helll are people who never worked for Airnet trying to spread idiotic stories about the company on this board? If you've never worked there, and you've been in aviation more than a week (i.e. you are aware that pilots are in charge of the largest rumor mill in the world), you'd know that the only way you can spread any type of useful information is if it comes from your first hand experience. Anyway, it doesn't take a genious to hear some of these rumors and figure they may not be 100% acurate!

Got a call from Matt (what's his last name?) for a phone interview.... what is generally asked?

Also, do they fly you over to Ohio if you live in the west coast?

Thanks for any info!

I just talked to Matt this morning. Just some basic questions, like why you want to work there. I'm located out in california, and i'll be catching a ride on one of their lears out of BUR. Interview on the 29th...good luck

Just walking around CMH last night and talking to different people this is some of the stuff I heard/ discussed. Express Jet lowered their minimums to 600TT and 100 Multi.. We have had and still continue to have people leave us for them. We've also had 18 classes of new hires this year, and there is no end in sight as far as stopping the classes. Lear PIC's aren't really leaving, but quite a few SIC's have been getting hired with NetJets and our prop guys have done their year and are getting hired by the likes of ASA, XJet, Comair, CHQ and a few at Eagle too. There have been a few that have broken their year training contract also to go to the regionals. Thats all i have for you for now!

I'm also shipping up to CMH on the lear out of MEM for an interview on the 30th of Aug. Can't wait.

Wow! that's amazing that they are scheduling interviews almost a year in advance.

Flytheblue and CFIIer...are you coming for the airnet side or the jetride side?
Airnet side...the JetRide SIC mins are way higher than anything I currently have!

How often are interviews going on these days?

Run for the hills!!

If you're considering working for Airnet......don't. This is by FAR the most disorganized company I have ever worked for. There is a reason we were 30-50 pilots short last year. People left for lower paying jobs because Airnet does NOT care about it's people! If you like being treated like dirt from day one...this is the place for you! I was told by the Asst. Dir. of Training that they run the flight dept. more like a frat house. If that's your thing, go for it. The Asst. Chief Pilot has the personality of....well....he really has NO personality. You will be stranded some night someplace because Dispatch has no clue what's going on. You will truly understand what it means to "Take one" for the team!

You must be a floater.

I think somebody is not capable of dealing with adult situations...

Those of us that are, understand that $HIT happens young buck. Anywhere you go you will find conditions that will make you feel like you are being treated like crap. Dealing with situations that "leave you stranded" is part of life.

What's wrong with a frat house? We have fun, what is wrong with having fun...would you rather work for a place that is uptight?

"Take one for the team"...hah hah hah...man you kill me! Like i said above, wait until you get your "dream job" and they leave you up the creek. It will happen, and then you will see that it happens even at the "big boys." You really need a reality check, life is hard, you cannot expect everything to be handed to you.

Finally, please leave...and do it now. None of this "i am waiting for an opportunity" crap because that is just an excuse for the weak and unmotivated. GET OUT NOW and give the spot to someone who can deal with life and the things life throws at them.

leave soon so i can take your spot!!! i sure hope you fly the lears for them cuz that means ill be moving up shortly!!! oh yea, if it bothers you so much, y haven't you left yet? if u hate it that much, leave, tomorrow or the day after so you'll help others that want to be employed for a stable company! HURRY HURRY

Airnet/Jet Ride

After seeing some of the post on Airnet/Jet Ride I have to say that I differ from some of the post. I called Craig W. today to ask about the charter pilot post on the Internet, he answered his own phone and spent time to explane anthing that I wanted to know. I sent a short resume and will fill out the online app.

If Craig is an indication what Jet Ride might be like I think it may be a place for me.

I know things have gone downhill since I was there....but that's a bit extreme. And since when is "having a personality"(whatever that means) a requirement for being an Assistant Chief Pilot. If he's still the same guy that was there when I left....I can tell you that when I needed some days off and then I got sick for like 2 weeks and then I needed time off for my CHQ interview on top of all that...he came through and approved everything I needed. When I got hired, he wished me the best of luck. He's a good guy who helped me out bigtime.

So since you're obviously a complete non-hacker....get out....go back to teaching chandelles. Good luck.

BTW...I was told by fractional guys all the time that flying a Baron around was the most fun I'd ever have. I didn't believe them then. Now...I know they were absolutely right.

Hey, has management given you guys and idea when you're coming over to Rick? It looks like the East (North) hangar is almost finished on the ground level, and the 2nd level is coming along quickly. They laid about half the concrete for the ramp the last few days, so it looks like the place is moving along pretty quick.

What is your explanation?

Okay, I really want to hear your side of the story. What is your opinion as to why so many pilots left last year? You can't tell me that they were all so eager to take a huge paycut and go to the regionals? Why have so many come into work and quit on the spot including an LJ35 Capt. who has been there for 10 yrs., been on the FAC, etc.? When 30-50 pilots leave in one month, something is wrong. People don't find new jobs unless they are looking. I'm not the only pilot who thinks this way, trust me. I've asked around.

I don't expect or want ANYTHING to be handed to me and I resent your implication. You don't know me or my situation yet you make assupmtions. Classy. I am not waiting for an opportunity, I make my own. If you want to improve Airnet, treat EVERYONE with respect from the CEO to the rampers who load your plane. My "dream job" has nothing to do with what kind of plane I fly. It has to do with the people I surround myself with.

For those who say, "Go back to teaching chandelles', I would in a heartbeat. Instructing is a great job! Sure it's not the ultimate goal, but helping someone fufill their dream of flying is a priceless gift. Those who don't think so shouldn't teach.

What's wrong with a frat house? There's a difference between having fun and having fun and still being professional. How do you think Biggerstaff would react after walking through the instructor's office and seeing "Definition of a slime bag", "Definition of a scum bag", etc. written on the white board? What would a potential employee think? What would a potential customer think?

StarChecker--You don't think having a personality is required for an Asst. Chief Pilot? Have you ever heard the term "internal customer" before? You don't think that a person in charge of managing people should have a personality? How many recruits would Airnet get if Washka didn't have an outgoing personality? The guy who is there now doesn't return phone calls, doesn't approve time off (according to pilots I've spoken with), and barley blinks when people leave. Sounds like someone who really cares about the people that report to him or takes his position seriously. At least when someone leaves one should wish them well in their new endeavors.

I know I am not going to change entrenched opinions and you can flame me all you want. If you want to have an exchange of ideas, I am more than willing to listen. If you want to trade insults, save your energy for something more constructive.

You're not referring to Vossman are you?
