Pay

Just to let you know the pay veries very much depending on your run. If money is an issue for you make **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** sure you get a 5th night or a high rig run. For example a minimum rig run will bring you $750 every two weeks after taxes. A high rig run will bring you about $950, and a run with a 5th night can bring you $1100-$1300 every two weeks after taxes. Lear upgrade time right now is about 10 months keep that in mind.

208starcheck....you don't know me so don't say that I have a spending problem. If you live in Cal, you should know that you can't buy a house cheaply, especially if you live close to the bay area. Add school loans, car loan, sick parents whom I care for, a kid, etc....72k don't go far. Granted, if I move I can sell my house and pay all my debts and then 24k a year might be enough. I don't know.

Anyway, for those who fly for Airnet, do you like the compnay and the life?

You're right I don't know your situation, my bad. But if you have problems with 72k now, Airnet might not be your answer.

The job is not bad, actually pretty good but morale is really low. Everyone is nervous, looking over their shoulder. If you were going to stay for a year then leave, it's a great way to get multi time (we have a seat lock policy and single engine aircraft). But, everyone gets hooked on the money and staying for jet time. You will hear about fast upgrade time. Last guy I heard was 13 months, but there are a lot of guys out there passing bids. I would guess upgrades will stay around 13-15 months for awhile. Someone said upgrades are at 10 months, I haven't seen that, of course I didn't hear the results of the last bid either. It might have happened. We did have a freak incident where a guy upgraded to Capt in the Lear with less than a year in the jet. That is not normal, and I bet we don't see that again.

Yeah he did get lucky...or is crazy more like it. Have you seen that BUF run?!?!?!? Man he can't believe he got it either, but hey, no-one else wants that crazy run, especially in about 5 months. Poor Greg...I know he is trying to bid out of it every time a new PIC spot comes open, and i do not blame him.

Well....I figured that if I sell my house and get out of Cal I can pay off all my bills. I can still have some $$$ left and that could be helpful for living expenses while at Airnet. My problem is that I don't have enough multi to get on with an air ambulance outfit like I want to....so Airnet would not be a bad gig for a year or so. Now, if I can get a seat in the Lear in a year or so, then it definitely would be worth it.

208starcheck, didn't mean to jump on you like that. But when you jump to conclusions.......anyway.

Why is training so long? I can see a regional taking that long, but a 135?

starchkr - I got the BUF SIC spot, and believe me I'm trying to bid out of it, but its great $. I've been here 8 1/2 months. Skipped a lot of people though.

Now...to sound a little naive, what's so bad about the Buffalo run?

Its Buffalo, the run never goes south of Columbus, its almost a 14 hour day and it has 5 nights. (Only 3 of the nights are close to 14 hours).
