Anyone use (or did use) www.airnav.com?

I use to reference it quite frequently until they went to charging the individual companies for listings. Now there doesn't seem to be that much informatoin on the site (with the exception airport information like runways, etc.) I'm debating becoming an AOPA member so that I can get a list of FBO's and their services, etc.

I noticed that recently. I used to try and leave a line for most XC flights I had. Sucks they are doing it differently now. I used to visity the site pretty often, no more.

The cheapest cost is $10/month for the company. I don't think that I would do it if I had to make that decision for an FBO.

Interestingly, the companies that initially paid the 10 bucks found it to be well worth it.

Our owner paid the money, and because of this, we fielded inquiries many times a week from people who seemed to think we were the only flight school on the airport, when in fact there were several others. They had been using airnav for some time before, and didn't notice the policy change. So they assumed that what was listed was all that was there.

Of course, as people move away from airnav, any advantage will go away, but at least for some time, we benefited from it.

bigD is right. It is a short-term smart move for any company doing that. It's a long-term mistake on airnav's part. People did not visit the site for the airport information. They visited it for the FBO/services info.

I'd rather pay some $$$ as a consumer and get a decent product than visit airnav and take a "hit or miss" shot as to whether the company paid the fee to list their services.
