NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The big U.S. airlines bucked a decline in the wider market Wednesday and rose with American parent AMR Corp. /quotes/comstock/13*!amr/quotes/nls/amr (AMR 7.24, +0.11, +1.54%) in the lead. Shares of AMR rose nearly 2% to $7.26, (CAL 24.24, +0.20, +0.83%) added 1% to $24.27 and United parent UAL Corp. (UAUA 22.63, +0.19, +0.85%) edged up a fraction to $22.60. Earlier, European regulators approved of a three-way alliance between British Airways , Spain's Iberia Lineas and AMR, which should help them improve their trans-Atlantic cost and revenue structure.
