This system works great for Air New Zealand domestic. You never see an employee until you go to board the aircraft. Not sure american passengers are smart enough to figure it out...especially in California and Nevada.

I didnt notice this traveling on Air New Zealand this Feb.

The system works well in Dublin airport for both domestic and international flights. They use a checkin kiosk similar to every airlines checkin kiosks and it prints out your baggae tag and you put in on the handle and drop the bags with an agent at the check in counter

Now if management could figure out how to get rid of pilots, flight attendants, and mechanics the airlines could really be a nice place to work.

In DUB you still have to pay baggage fees as well, you can pay online its cheaper, pay at the airport and it is 30% premium (unless your 1st. Class - except Ryan Air - he charges his family for bags)

Domestic only: Auckland to Queenstown...went up to the kiosk, entered our info, it spit out tags, we put bags on nearby conveyor...on our way. LAX to Cook Isl., Auckland, Fiji, etc., obviously this can't happen.

They are a class act all around.
