Hi all,
I was in class one day studying in a group when all of the sudden people started talking about how to avoid some taxes as a pilot, and they talked about paying for PO Box or even getting a Driver license in Arizona and a bunch of other stuff. I don’t know anything about taxes and I would like to find a good accountant that deals with commercial pilots. Do you know of any around San Francisco Bay Area, especially somewhere around San Bruno? I appreciate serious answers only.

I wouldn’t mind any other suggestions on Tax for Airline pilots if you know of any

Thank you

i would like to know this accountants name and address also

love,

your friendly irs investigator.

Arizona?? I believe Arizona has a state tax. You want to be a resident of Washington state or Florida. There are one or two other states that have no state tax, but I forget what they are right now.

I know New Hampshire does not have a state income tax. I think Florida and Texas do not have a state income tax either.

A few years ago there were a couple of NWA pilots, who got investigated by the IRS (I believe there were around 80 or so) because they were apparently living in a PO Box in Florida.
A PO Box does not qualify as a permanent address, but as a pilot you do not have to live in your primary residence for more then 6 months of the year (other people do). By the way, they all got fined and some might have actually got charged criminally for tax evasion.
There is a tax guy out there somewhere who is also a pilot who does the taxes for lots of pilots at my company and apparently saves them lots of money. I would not know how true that is, since I have not used his services and I like doing them myself. If you are very interested though PM me and I can try to find out how to contact this guy.

Nevada-No state income tax either. Do you really want to live in Vegas too? Maybe don't even have to ask that one.........

Which states have no personal income tax?

Seven states have no state income tax: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee, tax only dividend and interest income. To see how other states compare, check out the Federation of Tax Administrators' listing of individual income tax rates for 2006.

Five states without sales tax

Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon are the five states that currently do not impose general sales taxes at the state level. However, numerous boroughs and cities in Alaska have their own local sales taxes. Furthermore, the other four states impose sales-type taxes on specific transactions, such as lodging accommodations.
