In the Sept/Oct 2002 Airline Pilot magazine. Duane Woerth editorialized that taxes were too high on our industry, and asked for all airline pilots to work for a political agenda that will reduce the airline industries tax burden.
Does this mean that ALPA PAC will now use our donations to support conservative candidates? Conventional wisdom holds that liberal Democrats usually support ever increasing spending, which requires ever increasing taxation; and that conservative Republicans usually support limited government and lower taxes.
If we want the support of liberal Democrats in labor issues, how can we go support the tax relief conservatives without ticking off the pro-labor Dems?
Personally, I don't think that there is a dimes worth of difference between the two on the tax and spend issue, so I'm not sure it matters who we support on that issue. But this ALPA about face on politics is velly intelesting.
