Anyone know when they started interviewing? I know they called back 54 of the 136 of us on furlough. Of the 82 of us still on furlough I haven't been called. I guess the first callback didn't go so good? Anyone in the know?

I knew I should have drank the Kool-Aid.

It goes waaaaay back to this cult guy in South America, I think. He convinced all his followers to drink this "kool-aid" with him, after which, they all died. So, in other words, Mgt. is always trying to get us to drink their kool-aid and just "trust" them. I know it sounds like a wild answer, but I'm pretty sure that's where the saying came from. I just don't remember all the details of the origional story (names, places etc), but you get the idea. Anyone else know what i'm talking about and can maybe fill in the details???

Speaking to my base CP office, callback acceptance rate was very low. I don't know if they are doing interviews or not but if attrition stays the way it is, they are eventually going to need pilots.

Comair is not hiring.. If you look at their web site. It says they have been hiring all along. There are still pilots on the street at this time... My guess is they will actually be hiring sometime this summer.

I heard only 12 of the 54 accepted. Do you know if they went further down the list til they got 54 acceptances, or if they only gave the original 54 people an opportunity to come back? We could really use the pilots, especially in JFK. I'm not sure what the point of not bringing everyone back yet is.

I guess not calling you back was their way of "fixing the glitch".

Kidding, I haven't been called either.

Your youth shows!! It was Rev. Jim Jones and this occured in Nov 1978 in Jonestown, Guyana!!!

Kool-Aid for the masses

The Kool-Aid is a reference to both Rev. Jim Jones and Management.

Comair's CEO Fred Buttrell used the "Jedi Mind Trick" on the majority of the pilot group to give up their raises in exchange for 70 seat airplanes and, funny how it ran right into bankrupcy and pay cuts. Corporations usually know 24 to 36 months out if they are going to have to have file bankrupcy due to long term strategic planning. I guess its easy to hope for the best and brace for the worst. "BRACE, BRACE, BRACE!"

I should have just drunk the Kool-Aid...I wouldn't be feeling any pain.

I see a lot of pilots passing up the recall, which should allow hiring to start sooner than later. Also it looks like the 5, 70 seaters and 14, 50 seaters that comair where going to loose in the chptr 11 filling are now staying and soon (early summer) a BOS and MSP base will be announced

MSP?!? Does that mean they got a contract for the NWA flying?!?

How to Use the Jedi Mind Trick on a Pilot Group 101: Funny how all the airplanes CEO Fred Buttrell threatened would be going to the desert if management did not get what they wanted from all the labor groups in combination with bankrupcy are now staying on the property...can you say "credibility, boys and girls," or the lack of.

My understanding of the 54 recalls were to get 70 seat fo's. I heard they called one more back so they could get another fo in JFK. Doesn't look as though anymore are being called back anytime soon. Although I did hear that they were going to bring back more. That must have changed though. Of the 54 the only reason it was that many was to get to the number of 70 seat fo's.

There are rumors swirling about a huge ramp up...doubt anything positive will happen until they get done 1113ing the FAs.

After alienating the 49% of the pilot group who were foresightful enough to save, invest, and educate themselves in the event the company failed to exist, does anyone else see a reason why the company might want to foster rumors like this?

Perhaps management, if there is such a thing at Comair, is trying to plug the holes in the dike with rumors, as attrition and low morale threaten to take a toll on the integrity of daily operations.

Why Would U Go Back?

Why Should You Go Back To An Airline In Bk, Esp If You Are At The Bottom, Seems That If You Searched You'd Find At Least The Same Or Better Paying Position That You Could At Least Upgrade Or Get Off Reserve Within 4 Yrs. 6 Year Fo Making 35k/yr, No Retirement, No Upgrades, No New Planes, Skyhigh Health Insurance Premiums, Unproductive Scheduling And The Fat Cats Keep Gettin Fatter. Anyhow, They Are Ramping Up, Internally They Are Accepting Bids/resumes For Instructors And Ramping Up Their New Aqp Program. Give The Fa's A Week, They Will Be Hiring At Least 20 A Month Come April/may The Attrition Rate Is Extreme. Then Again, 2 Years Ago This Was The Place To Be, Everything Goes In Cycles.

I was going to comment on the "big ramp up" but you pretty much covered it. I would be surprised if 1 furloughee accepted recall. Management and a few sim instructors got what they wanted, everyone else got the shaft.

Sounds outlandish...no offense though. How would they know they would have to go 54 deep to get the number of 70 seat F.O.s they needed. I did heard that the majority recalls have declined due to having other opportunities. I guess it's time to get ready to give more money back to the company so they can "afford" to train 100 more F.O.s this summer.

"Ouch." Kool-Aid time.
