Examining our lighting procedures and was curious about the SOP's on the fractional side. E.g., recogs below 180 or 10,000 msl? All exterior lights on for takeoff/landing or omit the tail flood and wing inspection lights? Differences for day/night? Appreciate any info----

Position lights whenever power on the aircraft, beacon with engines running (not APU), strobes taking the runway, recog or landing lights from takeoff clearance to after takeoff checklist (10,000 feet), recogs or landing lights back on at descent below the line (typically somewhere just below 18,000), ice lights, logo lights, etc pilot's discretion.

Add to Guts listall lights on when crossing a runway.

Im with Guts -

Navs - Anytime power to the aircraft
Tail Flood - Night Time below 18K Ft
Wing Tip Strobes - Taking Runway until exiting runway or when crossing a runway
Recognition Lights - After Takeoff to 18K Ft, 18K Ft Until Cleared to Land
Landing Lights - When Cleared for Takeoff, When Cleared to Land
Beacon - When Engines are running or about to start up
Ice Lights (CE550 has only a left wing light) - Only used for spotting Ice at night.

Okay, this thread is great. How should flying medals be worn?

Ice lights aren't a bad idea taking the runway, definitely on those uncontrolled in the middle on no where at night. Saved me a couple times from those that weren’t or couldn’t use the radio. (obviously doesn't work for all types)
