with the new IAD base, how hard would it be to get ORD for a new FO?is commuting a common thing there?
is it true about the 8 years upgrade or is it an interview thing?

To early to tell. Expect ORD to go "senior" on the initial allignment comming out at the end of the month.

I don't know what'll happen over the next 8 years, but as it seems the company isn't interested in growing anymore, it may be a long long time before a newhire sees the left seat. As a newhire, I imagine this is a nice place to work as you look for another job.

Most people in ORD commute, many of us from DEN.
Lines tend to be pretty commutable, I'm bidding 66% down the list and typically need only 1 hotel room per month, working weekends, of course.

Time to upgrade will depend on hiring elsewhere. Practically no one wants to make their career at this place anymore.

About 85% of the pilots commute right now. New hires have been getting assigned ORD CRJ FO, but will most likely be displaced next week to IAD. There are probably going to be a few ATW 146 FO slots comming up in the next class. Expect to know more on the 24th or 25th once the realigment is finalized.

Man I love this company!

One week down and our class has already been invited to a deck party at the fleet managers house and boating with a couple "higher" ups. Nothing like beer 'n brats!!!

There's 19 of us in new-hire class and we've all been told to expect CL-65 out of IAD. Could be worse....I could be flying a jetstream for a crappy company or a -1900 for an even crappier company!

For all of you still interested, AWAC has recently changed their mins. so don't hesitate to shoot your resume over. When I got called, I still didnt' meet the TT requirements...

Now that I'm here and see why people always say AWAC is a "quality company", I may never leave!:) Well, at least I have that option. There are a lot of senior folks here that enjoy flying a four-engine jet with good pay and benefits. Not to mention a good retirement.

Good luck to all!!!

bae3100fo,

did amw hold you up to pay your training contract? glad to see awac is working out.

You can go to all the DeCK Parties you want.
Your ALPA is, and so is your paycheck. even MGT
ain't gonna change that.

Enjoy your 10 year upgrade, unless we kill off alot
of 146 dino'soars.

It really doesn't even matter on upgrade time. The
senior pilots at Air Wisconsin sold out there less senior
pilots. For a better contract for themselves.
You never here anyone talk about that. UAL screwed
Air Wisconsin back in 1991 and our own pilots(146-CA) are
screwing there own pilots back.

I see a 146 at the gate and I want to piss on it more
then a MESA JET. Well; not the plane as much as a the
senior member. That would be from the BAE-146.

That's right. ORD has the majority vote now.
