I've heard this is a pretty sweet gig, I was wondering if anyone out there is or was on long call for them and could answer a few questions.
How senior is it to hold long call as an FO or CA?
Is it avail. at all domiciles?
How many hard days off a mo. do you avg?
How many days off/hrs. flown a mo?
Do you ever break min, say for working days off?

First. It's not reserve. It's just Long Call.

Second it can go senior and junior depending on if people are being called. Some people bid Relief lines (where LC is found) to possibly increase their days off. It's a roll of the dice and sometimes you get called a lot and some times you don't. Hard to say all the time.

What is a relief line? Never heard of it.

It is pretty much what it sounds like. There are a few per domicile... and they are a mix of long call days, and trips that got pulled off of other lineholders schedules (i.e. carry in, vacation, etc.). Some relief lines will have all long call days, and one three day trip. Relief lines are a gamble... you may make guarantee---you may make more, you may fly---you may not. It all depends.

I've had months where they treated me really well and other months were I got screwed on them......

I just applied with Air Wis. Any idea when the next class is? Callback times? Junior bases?

Next class is sometime in Feb, according to Feerless Leader. No idea how long it will take you to get called for an interview; faxing and emailing the resume in is the best way to go.

ORF is junior for FO reserves, DCA junior for FO lineholders.

Good luck!

Long Call sucks!

I have bid relief for the past two months and it worked okay for me. I had LC all over Christmas and got called out for those, but I did land an extra day off.

You will be notified by 6pm central time two days before you are needed. If you are needed on Friday, you will know by 6pm CT Wednesday. If there is nothing by then, you are off. Certainly beats reserve.

BTW relief lines seem to be spread out from senior to junior. In PHL, for the FEB FO bid, the number 3 FO got a releif line, and the number 137 FO (out of 144 line holders) got a relief line as well.
