Air Whisky/Willy is just a name that is used among pilots. Not sure why though. Guess it just sounds funnny!

I heard that it had something to do with a previous owner or something that they always flew somewhere to go waterskiing. Something like that anyway...not sure if it's true.

Air Willy, Air Cheese, Air Wisconsin, Wisconsin, Dairy Air... Hell, I answer to D A M N E D near anything. I even used to answer to Waterski and just plain old ski!

If your looking for the technical answer, yes it is "Wisconsin".

To get the authentic Air Wisconsin pilot-accent on the radio you have to imitate a mix of Edward G. Robinson and Donald Duck with a d1ck in his mouth. It's the only way you get the "I got blitzed on Blatz lastnight" effect.

Of course, if your a Whiskey girl pilot then you just imitate the soft resonant sounds of a Racoon Eating A Cat!

If your looking for the technical answer, yes it is "Wisconsin".

That's funny because most pilots know it is "Wisconsin" but it seems like most of the controllers say "Air Wisconsin." I wonder if they don't know the difference or if the official callsign in the ATC guidebook is different.

When Awac flies out west sometimes ABQ center and LA Center calls AWAC a "Catus" flight since the identifier looks alike on a screen.

"waterski" comes from one of their old SWM metros hydroplaning and ripping the gear off---it looked like a single waterski skidding on the top of the water....

According to most of the controllers down in the SE the correct call sign for Air Wisconsin is "Air Midwest."

Then there is the ATL center guy who calls us "wisCOOOONNNNNNsin 21xx every friggin' time.
