While surfing for info on uniforms at various airlines, I stumbled across the Air Tran Uniform Store, which contained this interesting little tidbit in the section on pilot uniform guidelines:W

UnderGarments
  • Female crew members are required to wear undergarments and a bra at all times.
  • Men are required to wear brief/boxer undergarments at all times while in uniform.
What I'm wondering is: How do they know? Do they require crewmembers to submit to strip searches when showing up for duty? :)

And I thought random drug/alcohol screening was intrusive!

I think I'd notice a 54 year old grandma FA not wearing a bra. Heck, I might even report her. The 24 year old? Just might overlook that one...

Or, put another way, if her cup size is "36 Long", then they need to be stowed before takeoff.

Years ago there was an emergency evacuation on a DC-10. Some of the flight attendants wearing dresses went down the slide...you can imagine what happened to some of the dresses as they went down the slide. As a result it came to the attention of some people that some F/A were not wearing 'undergarments'.

I was just thinking that many rules, especailly the odd ones, come about as a result of something...

Ty,

Love the avatar...Dwight is one of my favorites. The tag line--1000 miles from nowhere is also great.

Here's the trivia--do you know what happened to the director of the video for that song?

She was onboard one of the planes that were involved in the 9/11 attacks--I believe one of the ones that were used against the twin towers.

"Men are required to wear brief/boxer undergarments at all times while in uniform"

This is a blatant attempt by management to keep pilots from wearing the silk and lacey undergarments to work that they wear around the house!
