Does anyone know how long it takes to upgrade at Air Tran? If you try real hard?
Also the pay scales for FO 1-2 years and CA 3-4 years?
Thanks a lot.

"If you try real hard"??

It's going to pick up here fairly rapidly after the first of the year. Alot of guys are expecting the flood gates to open in early '04.

With the recent aircraft order (10-14 717's and 100 737's) on the way, I'd say newhires can expect to upgrade w/i 2 years if hired in '04.

Hourly pay after 04/01/04:
F/O
1st year $42.75 ($48.31)
2nd year $55.94 ($63.21)
3rd year $60.59 ($68.47)

Capt:
3rd year $112.27 ($126.87)
4th year $120.01 ($135.61)
12th year $152.57 ($172.40)

(indicates 737-800 rate, if we get any)

Plus yearly stock options grant, 10.5% B-fund contribution.

Current contract is ammendable 04/05.

It took me exactly 31 months and one day from new hire to Captain Checkride.

My salary as of 4/1/04 = $112.27 per/hr.

Per Diem = $1.75 per/hr.

There is no "trying real hard" as far as upgrade time. It is all seniority based. I was on the DC-9 for over a year, and bid over as an FO on the B-717. I wanted to fly the plane before upgrading. As a result I was seat locked for 2 years, but the company released seat locks for the bid cycle that I got awarded, and as a result got my upgrade class.

"Trying real hard" will definitely play a big part in whether you pass during upgrade training or not. It is "REAL HARD", but can be done if you "WORK HARD".

Ouch!! Now that hurts. I only hope we get a trip together before you go to class. Remember this phrase..."Gear up... Shut up..... B!tch!"

When I'm sittin' on the green couch and you got your sweet line with weekends off... you better stop and say hi... or I'll leave a "grumpy" in your v-file mister after you leave to go home!!

Hey... don't take my line..

PS - Talked to my DC-9 sim partner (S.D.) today. He's gonna bid after the new year also. I don't mind... he's junior to me!!

YO!! Wait till I send "GUIDO" the Killer pimp after you!! And dont make me tell everyone here the real truth about you!!! HA!! HA!!Are you all done with IOE? Enjoy yourself...and soon we both will be driving the green couches!!! Have a great weekend........

Shouldn't you be out flying??

It's estimated that upgardes will start to drop to 1.5 to 2 years by late 04.
