Save your money

Check Miami-Dade Community College. They have ATC classes, and after you take the classes you qualify for the ATC test.
Riddle will cost you a buttload of cash, I think MDCC is $200 per class. Check out their website www.mdcc.edu There is also an ATC test booklet you should buy, it will answer all of your questions. Check out www.asa2fly.com

I did Riddles ATC program and graduated Dec 2001.

It was an excellent program but im sure its the same every where you go.

Most the people I graduated with have either done OKC already or are scheduled to go.

I was up for the Aug 15 class but got the call yesterday that I got pushed back into the Sept 25 class so looks like im flying for another few months.

I talked to a lady the other day who did her ATC degree in Anchorage. She seemed very pleased with the program and is now awaiting assignment.

I am also trying to become an air traffic controller. There are 13 different schools you can go to. All of them are listed at www.faa.gov. Click on the link for "How do I become and air traffic controller". I have decided to apply to Minneapolis Community and Technical College in Eden Prairie. It is an 18 week program. It is to become a center controller. If you pass you are almost guaranteed a job and do NOT have to go to training in OKC. You just start as soon as you get assigned. It costs about $3200 plus room and board. You also must already possess either a 2 or 4 year degree.

Riddle will take at least a year because all classes are pre-reqs for each other. And it will be much more expensive.

everyone who is hired by the FAA goes to OKC. Even if you did prior training else where.

Some ARTCC will have you goto the facility for a month or so prior to going to the academy but everyone who is hired goes to OKC for certification.

Another good website is www.natca.org. You might know of it already but it is the national air traffic controllers association's web site and it seems to have a lot of good info. I was talking to some instructors at Minneapolis community and technical college about a year ago and they said that 100% of their students that passed the air traffic controller entrance test were hired. I obviously do not know how true this is. Anyway from what I understand they make you take the entrance test before you enroll in the program to ensure that you are "hirable" by the FAA.

Thanks everyone for all the great info, ect...

I just toured riddle, since I only live a few hours away, and thought it was a nice package they offer. I just hope they can give me a better deal on my transfer situation (only 28 credits for the 62 I already completed).

Anyways I'm considering it as well as mdcc among others.
Thanks again and good luck with all your careers!
